Verizon recently replaced my STB with a Fios One - cannot turn of STB. Spent too much time with Verizon tech support without any answers. Do the new stbs just not turn off? if so why wouldn't Techs know that?

mason130 again - thank you. did turn off promotions - just seems unnecessary to have the stb running when not in use. But then I'll just have to go with the flow.
Yep, you could turn off the older boxes, but i think these stay on for maintenance processes. Guess they don't draw much power when basically idling, but that does cause some issues with other devices that rely on a loss of signal to turn off.

Actually the new 4100 series boxes never to turn off. They will always have a screensaver of some kind sent to your TV. You get to more or less choose that, but something will ALWAYS be shown.
Main Menu > Settings > Notifications > Promotions
Main Menu > Settings > System > Fios TV One Mini Settings>Screensaver Posters

thank you for your response. but if the Fios one TV - one tv set only connected- is powered down, why can't the stb also power down? i can hear it churning or running and the light is on 24 hours?

Thank you that clears it up; I just heard a similar situation with comcast stbs.
I realize I'm being sarcastic but why couldn't verizon tech support personnel know that. I spent a lot of time with them on chat, phone and resetting my equipment. Seems to me that should have been something they knew or would be in their knowledge database.
They were extremely professional however....
Again thank you for your insight.

One can only hope before the equipment goes EOL they would update the database. I base my replies on experience, they usually work from a script.
