Fios TV One, Pause Rewind, FF Live TV Question

Hello, I am hoping someone with one of the new TV One setups can help me. I was going to switch from comcast to Verizon, but these new boxes look very similar to the xfinity box that has lots of problems watching/buffering/recording live TV.

Back in the day I had a Verizon DVR where I could pause/rewind/FF live TV. I could also visit another chanel (or watch a DVR recording), hit the "last" button and return to that buffered channel. It was like both cable cards (if that is the proper word) were constantly DVRing on the fly, for about an hour of content behind the live point. With the Xfinity, none of this is possible, except for being able to rewind the one chanel you are currently watching.

Is the new Fios TV One similar to my old Fios DVR? Or is pausing/rewinding very limited like the xfinity? Thanks for your help! I hope I've phrased this in a way that makes sense!

Also, is there a remote button to skip forward or backwards at 30 second intervals on live TV?

I'm looking for the same functions.  I want to pause one channel,  switch to another, and then go back to the paused point on the first channel.    Also, it will only stay paused for about 15 minutes, snd then you have to rewind back the the point where you paused.

Buffering is a big problem with live TV.

This latest generation of Fios TV One (VMS4100ATV and Fios TV+) is nothing like the previous models.

Buffering

This model has 6 tuners that can buffer the last hour of TV on each of the last 6 channels you visited. But that doesn’t mean that it will. Any number of things can cause the DVR to drop its buffer cache and start over when you return to watch. Basically, if you didn’t record it, don’t count on it being there when you get back.

Skip Forward/Back during Live TV

During Live TV playback, there is a REPLAY button that can be set to jump back 15, 30, or 60 seconds. It often leads to glitches such as frozen screens and A/V sync issues. There is no longer a Skip Forward button to match it. Your only option is to FF.

Returning to a Paused Channel

Nope. Changing channels and returning to a Paused channel is no longer possible. When you return, it will be back to Live. And it may or may not be buffered. So you should feel lucky if you can rewind.

Paused channel goes Live

This is a new discovery for me on my 8th day. When you pause a channel, it stays paused for 15 minutes, then goes into its preset screen saver mode. When you come back and hit the back button to drop the screen saver, it goes back to Live TV on the channel you were watching. So I extended out the Screen saver setting to its max of 2 hours. Then around the 15-minute mark it will have a side-bar pop out and ask, “Are you still there?” If you respond, it will go away and stay paused. If you miss it, you will come back to the Home screen. Then have to back arrow to get back to your Live channel.

Screen burn-in used to be an issue for Plasma and LCD screens, a long long time ago. But leaving things paused for an hour on today’s LCD has never been a problem for me. This setting is annoying.
