Any word on if VZ plans to make the guide HD and go TRUE 16x9?  It's about time they do....AT&T's moto boxes already are. Comcast's guide is also 16x9 in TRUE HD, and also DIsh's Guide. Actually almost all providers have or will shortly have a 16x9 guide, except Fios.

Nope, not Fios.  Great cutting edge service yet VZ skimps out and does'nt go the distance to complete the service.

Only two providers currently offer a 16:9 guide.  That's Dish Network with their ViP622/ViP722 DVR and AT&T U-Verse with its Motorola IPTV DVR.

No other cable or satellite provider offers a 16:9 guide on their own boxes.  DirecTV and others use a 4:3 guide on a 16:9 background, or a 4:3 guide stretched to fill a 16:9 screen, with the same 90 minutes of program information.

No Motorola cable STB or DVR anywhere is available with a 16:9 guide (U-Verse uses an IPTV box which is a completely different design).  As noted before on this forum, the current firmware for Motorola boxes cannot support both 4:3 and 16:9 guides; a cable provider has to pick one, and all have chosen 4:3 for compatibility reasons.

Comcast is testing a new True2Way version of their iGuide with 16:9 on the Panasonic TZ-PCH2180 in Denver and Chicago, which customers can buy for around $400 (?).  They do not offer this 16:9 guide on their own Motorola or SA boxes.

I finally got sick of the poor DVR quality and switched back to MythTV.  It's a little techie, and certainly not for everyone.  But I have been much happier with my Myth setup than I was with that horrible HD DVR for $15/mo.
