Fellow FIOS people, is there any news on whether Verizon is going to add Al Jezeera? How do we avoid this awful channel? Time Warner has already stepped up. Have you heard anything re Verizon? I can't get an answer from the company.

They have to give the channel some time to gain viewers before they decide to axe it due to low viewership. Funimation Channel was on FiOS for a few years before it was removed due to very low viewership.
Please remove Aljazeer TV from the lineup. Couldn't get that channel when it was Current TV. This is even worse. Plenty more stations I would rather get if you actually want to ADD something to the line up. Do you hate this country so much that you want to force feed the propaganda that station is selling. Verizon should be ashamed of themselves.

In our area it is a subscription channel, as it should be.

I chose Verizon FIOS over Time Warner ONLY because Verizon airs Al Jazeera America. For those who don't know anything about the channel (including how to spell it), please don't ask the company to remove the channel. If you're not interested in the channel, then don't watch it. However, as an educated person who cares about the quality of TV news, I think this country desperately needs a channel devoted to real news, not screaming talking heads.
And for those who think that the original Al Jazeera channel is there to solely to promote the Arab world and nothing else, take note at the following:
Every single country in the Middle East has shut down Al Jazeera or expelled its journalists except for one (excluding Qatar, of course). Can you name the country that never clamped down on Al Jazeera?
Answer: Israel. That's right. The Israelis never shut down Al Jazeera. Additionally, no Israeli government spokesperson ever appeared on an Arabic TV station (except for Egyptian TV) unti Al Jazeera launched in 1996. Yes, Al Jazeera covers stories that will **bleep** you off. They actually cover stories that **bleep** off everyone from all sides of the spectrum. That's what makes it so unique.

Nothing says being "America" than wanting to shut down speech you MAY not agree with. I will not say "won't" agree with since it is apparent that there are those who will never watch the channel.
It is nice to have a channel I can turn to that isn't awash i party politics like Fox News and MSNBC.

I am extremely disappointed that Verizon has opted to carry the Al Jazeera channel in its line up. This is owned by the fundor of Al Qaeda, a leader in the Muslim Brotherhood, who is responsible for terrorism against Americans, Christians, and Jews. The decision to support this network is anti-Christian and unAmerican. I will likely pull my subscription and find another cable provider if this channel is not removed.

When I want Christian (or fill in your favorite flavor), I go to church. When I want TV, I go to FiOS.

Incorrect. I have the Extreme package and I have Al Jazeera on 114 and 614, watch the HD channel at least some on most nights that I am home, have it in my Favorites, overall a pretty good news channel I think.

Justin, seems I have it now. It wouldn't come in directly. But when I tuned in to the standard channel and then hit the "Warch in HD" button, it came on. Tried the same trick with the other channels I mentioned but it didn't work with those, so I guess they will stay on just the Ultimate package..
I would rather have another vapid shopping network than this anti-American/anti-western/anti-human dreck.
I would never choose to pay for Al Jazeera, but Verizon is so diverse and politically correct that they miss the fact that in all probabiity the large majority of their subscribers would be offended by the inclusion of this content if they ever watched it.
Give me 24-hours or Barney and Friends before this garbage.
