How do I turn on the ethernet port on the back of my DVR?

I have FIOS with Motorola 7216 DVR.

The last comment I saw here was in 2009. Surely they've figured this out since then?

The port is not active and is not likely to ever be active.  Also, if it was active it is meant as a network connection for the STB  for versions (non-Verizon) that don't have MoCA and not Ethernet distribution.
