Is it possible to have service on a TV without a box?

I have an old STD tv that I would like to use but I know I cant just splice it like I did with Bright House.
Is there a convertor or adapter I can use to get a signal to it or do I have to upgrade to a tv with a digital tuner in it?
Thanks.

The cheapest Verizon box is called a "digital adapter" and I believe it is $3.99 a month to rent.

You could also get a converter box and use that along with a rabbit ears antenna. The reception from that is crappy and picture doesn't stay on very well but I guess it's better than nothing if you want to watch TV that badly.
