Is there any way to get Verizon to remove the requirement to use their router for Fios TV+ service?

A common combination for Verizon when replacing legacy TV equipment has been their Fios TV+ box (Android based stream TV device), and the VMS4100ATV DVR box.
While it is overall good hardware, there is one annoyance. Verizon imposes an annoying requirement where at least once per week, it needs to see the verizon router get a WAN IP assigned by verizon.  The verizon router is the Fios G3100.

The verizon router provides no needed functionality for the Fios TV service, as other than when it needs to do that arbitrary check, Fios TV boxes do not need the verizon router at all, and can use any other so long as  each device has the proper port forwards. (effectively mirroring the port forwards that the verizon router will automatically assign when those devices are connected behind it). With the proper port forwards, the full range of functionality will work, including the remote DVR services.

With all of this in mind, it becomes clear that the verizon router serves no truly required functionality for these devices, but since there is a periodic check for their router to have a direct connection to the WAN, it effectively results in a user needing to connect it to the WAN at least for a few seconds each week, as placing it behind your main router and forwarding all of the needed ports, or even placing it on the DMZ no longer works, since it does not want any additional hops between it and the WAN.

With this in mind, is there any way to get Verizon to just remove the need to periodically check in on their router, that way users can enjoy their TV service as well as Internet, without needing the Verizon router?

With their old STBs, all you needed was a a MoCA to Ethernet adapter or using one of their routers with everything disabled except for MoCA and LAN (essentially turning their router into a MoCA to Ethernet bridge), and then forwarding the proper ports to enjoy all of the Fios TV features.

Overall, it makes for an unnecessarily frustrating experience to add contrived and arbitrary requirements for increased use of Verizon routers, as it forces the use if significantly lower end hardware, and essentially running additional hardware that serves no practical purpose, at least in my use case.

TL:DR
Verizon should get rid of the requirement to use their router with their Fios TV+ box and the VMS4100ATV, since the router serves no vital purpose for the functioning of those devices.
