I have a malfunctioning set top box. I have tried to call Technical Support three times, each time I have held one to one and half hours and not been able to get through. Unfortunately, I can't hold 2-3 hours. This is crazy. What do I have to do to get basic issues resolved?

Definitely should be able to get through faster unless you called when they are having sometype of major outage. Make sure you called 1-800-verizon and selected technical support. Other possibilities are Chat option off the "Contact us" options on this page, twitter to Verizon support, and option off DSLreports site.

Thanks for the response. Definitely call the right number all three times, but apparently they are deliberately not staffing to levels needs to handle call volumes. Twitter @VerizonSupport finally worked although that still took 45 minutes to complete. Verizon not making it easy on their customers.
