Music channels in Zone 2?

Hey all - hopefully someone here can help me out.  I've also posted a similar question on avsforum.  Here goes.  My Fios DVR is connected to an Onkyo TX-SR 605 via HDMI.  This receiver offers "Zone 2" functionality that allows me to listen to audio on my outdoor speakers - and I can listen to a different source than what is playing in Zone 1 (my family room).  The catch is that only sources connected to the receiver via analog will play in Zone 2.  In addition to the HDMI connection, I have also connected the Fios DVR to the receiver via analog audio cables.  I am unable to get sound to come out of the outdoor speakers when selecting the input source that I have the cable box connected to the receiver (cbl/sat).

Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong, or is there no way that I can listen to my Fios music channels outside under this setup?

Should work if you hooked up the red and white RCA jacks on the BACK of the STB to your receiver.  All audio and video outputs are always on (I have mine going to a VCR and it works the same time my TOSLINK does to my AVR and the HDMI to the TV.  The only thing you might try is playing with the fixed / variable  and vloume audio settings in the onscreen menu from the DVR (MENU -> SETTINGS -> AUDIO -> etc.).

I finally figured it out.  I did need to go into the DVR's settings from the on-screen menu (not the hidden menu).  I changed 'volume control' from fixed to variable..........works like a charm.
