This is a frequent question, but no answers.
I changed from BrightHouse to FIOS and find that there is no LOCAL weather/traffic on the HD version of the Weather Channel. There is on the SD channel, but not HD. This is not a good showing for FIOS which has brilliant HD reception, much better than BrightHouse. So for me to get local weather, I have to tune to SD Weather Channel which has a terrible picture, drop outs, pauses, etc.
Come on FIOS, fix this issue. According to old posts, this is not a new issue.
FIOS Subscriber, West Pasco County, Florida.
Thanks,
Dan

Lots of comments on this.
Most are that Verizon won't be adding the hardware required to support this feature.
Searcht he threads and read other comments regarding this topic.

I do not know where everyone is getting their information from. I tweeted the Weather Channel directly and they said that they are working with Verizon to get the local on the 8's on the HD channel.

Is there an ETA? Who to ask officially?

This thread on dslreports explains it. It's a processor issue that Verizon has to upgrade. Until they spend money to do it, it won't happen.

So who do we contact to make this move along faster? We are customers after all and not hostages.

As far as I know there is no one officially to ask. If you call customer service they do not know what you are talking about.
I think you should go on twitter to the Weather Channel. You will probably get the same answer that I received. I also just tweeted Verizon Fios customer support. You can do this too.

Its renewal time and I'm really thinking about going back to comcast due to all the VZ channel issues. No local weather and tons of out of area school channels taking up the lower channels rather than sticking them in some upper channel or being more AREA Specific like comcast. VZ has good infrastructure compared to comcast but dosent even seem to try to fix the TV issues.. Like not fitting some TV screens and the afformentioned. It is so hard to find nornal channels on VZ.

School channels (Community channels) are usually dictated as part of their franchise agreement with the local government.
Not sure what you mean by channels not fitting the TV.
Nor your comment about being so hard to find "normal" channels.

This is mainly a user supported board.
You are the first I have seen post that a channel does not fit the screen.
What type of STB and TV do you have? Maybe a setting to help clear that up.
And the lower channels are set aside for local access. So even if they didn't carry that content, they wouldn't be free for other content.
The lower channels (anything less than 500) are all SD and are packed quite tightly so they take up a low amount of available bandwidth.
Where are you located so others in your area can possibly weigh in.
