On Demand charging for new episodes on Channels that I already subscribe to.

Ever since the new On Demand menu launched I have noitced a change in the pricing of On demand episodes on channels that I subribe to as part of my normal FIOS TV package. I first noticed this with a recent episode of Teen Wolf on MTV that I had started watching for Free two days prior then when I was switched over to the new On Demand menu that same episode had to be purchased for $1.99 for me to continue watching it. Next the same issue happened with the latest episode of the Vampire  Diaries on CW. Assuming this was a mistake I called customer service and was told that it was the Channel providers MTV and CW not Verizon that had made price change for the episodes but was also told that I could  watch these same episodes for free online. So I logged into Myverzion account online and and found that all the curent episodes were in fact free.  This makes no scense at all. Why am I being charged extra to watch content on my TV that is free online. This totally defeats the purposed of paying for cable. The fact that I have to pay extra to watch content on my TV that is now only available for free online is ridiculous.  Im convinced that this a mistake that started when the new On demand menu was released.  Also I have checked at a few friends and relatives houses over the holidays and was able the to watch the exact same content (current episodes) for free On Demand with Direct TV and Comcast.  So imagine tonight when I sat down to watch the latest epsode of Grimm On Demand on NBC with FIOS and found that I had to pay $1.99. I begrudgingly got up off my sofa logged into Myverzion account and found the very same episode is free to watch online. Please fix this mistake or I will be switiching to Direct TV ASAP.

This has been covered in other threads.

For one this is a peer to peer support forum, so Verizon doesn't respond.

And we have not been given any timeframe on when this issue might be resolved.

You said that this is a peer to peer forum and Verizon doesn't respond but this is not true.  They moderate all of these posts, filter and respond.  If they don't like what you have to say, they can it.  Not very democratic and definitely not peer to peer.

Changes to VOD: The VOD free and premium folders have been merged into the Networks Folder. As such, you will find the free and paid shows now located in the same location. When you select the show you want to watch under Networks, please select the filter button and choose Free and Owned. This will provide all the shows that are available for free viewing.

  1. That is a suggestion however it doesn't stop the problem if the network is part of your program you should not be being charged. I to have the same problem and filed a complaint with the ftcc. We do not pay the networks we pay them. I also looked into their answer for that and it is not true.

First the elimination of Fox and now I see I have to pay extra to watch TV shows on-demand (ABC, CBS etc...). Ridiculous. Like the cable service isn't expensive enough? Unfathomable.

This has been going on since February 2017

it is double charging. I reported to the AG in NY but that was the last AG that resigned I think for being crooked. It’s all a joke. 

Cant wait to move out of NY and NEVER use Verizon again. And I used to think they were great. They smashed that perception.

Wait what? I just join FiOS Fox is not available what do you mean? It's a regular cable network what the hell is going on these days? Comcast unlimited cinemax as well because of some fight between companies there needs to be some kind of legal moderation about this crap.

I just found out the same information.  Was told nothing can be done about it for now except complain.  I sure Conmcast would welcome my business.

I was thinking the same thing.  I may start looking at other cable companies.  This is ridiculous that we now have to pay to watch certain episodes of tv shows.

Did  you read the previous post where someone compared Verizon for with another provider and found they were both showing the same episodes having a charge?

I really miss Comcast. As soon as my contract w/ Fios is done, I'm going straight back to them. BIG mistake. The quality of the interface, content, pop up ads, missing lists of shows instead of trying to read the show advertisement tiles. Comcast is everything that Verizon isn't. AND, no charge ever for a channel you're already paying for. In other words, no games and hidden reduction of functionality.

Latest is that now Verizon is even charging for new episodes. What a fraud this company is. 

Im going to again write to the attorney general. This cannot be legal.

Just spoke with a representative and he claims today is the first time his office has gotten calls about this.  There have been numerous calls today and they are supposely looking into why.  Promised a call back before I disconnect my service.

Again I just joined FiOS 2 years later this is still true. I started watching 2 broke girls and the only season that I could get for free with season 4. Now as I say that that show has been canceled for a while and is re-airing on TBS. However, it was originally aired by NBC. Back to my watching the only free season, season 4 - angrily but saying whatever - if 2 broke girls I get to episode 13 and suddenly it's not free that's paper that all the way up to episode 19 I believe. 19, 20, and 21 were again free. This screams blatantly getting the customer to get involved in the show and then what episodes in the middle they have to pay for because of that market research shows that people would be mad but then end up paying for it. This was a week ago or so. Just went in and now only the last three episodes of season 4 are available for free and season 5 is there for free. **bleep**?! I also just changed my package so I could watch Logo... When to its on demand section and there is not one single episode of ANYTHING that is free... And it is part of my package meaning I am paying for it this is total **bleep**. Also the only thing available is episodes of shows when logo are his movies all the time and Comcast I've heard those I believe as well as other platforms like Prime. There has to be some kind of fraud going on here...it's like the **bleep** of living in Taxaxhusetts as I do where they get away with things like charging sales tax on cars and at the same time town's charge excise tax YEARLY.  GRRR. 

PLEASE don't any of you "Premium Contributors" (whatever that means to begin with) respond to my post with irrelevant and unhelpful platitudes. And btw if this is just a peer-to-peer forum why am I directed here every time I ask Google a question about FiOS and where is the forum with actual Verizon FiOS employees answering these questions?

Mad disappointed... It feels like paying for nothing basically. A certain service is expected and should be delivered. I also want to see again documentation showing that the money charged for these on demand episodes actually goes to the networks not Verizon FiOS.

The terms of service don't give any guarantees for On Demand Content.

What content is available on demand is governed by the contracts the cable providers sign with the content providers.

Some cable providers may be in a position to sign better contracts than others. Or more willing to pay extra for the content.

In the case of CBS (where Two Broke Girls originally aired) they have their own streaming service.  You can't even get much content on their website as a lot of it moves you over to their streaming service to get it.

And TBS may not have paid (or not been allowed) to add it to their On Demand offerings.

As I stated earlier, it looks like more and more, content providers are looking to move viewers to their own service rather than allowing cable or other streaming services to show anything other than what is on their linear channels.
