Ever since the new On Demand menu launched I have noitced a change in the pricing of On demand episodes on channels that I subribe to as part of my normal FIOS TV package. I first noticed this with a recent episode of Teen Wolf on MTV that I had started watching for Free two days prior then when I was switched over to the new On Demand menu that same episode had to be purchased for $1.99 for me to continue watching it. Next the same issue happened with the latest episode of the Vampire Diaries on CW. Assuming this was a mistake I called customer service and was told that it was the Channel providers MTV and CW not Verizon that had made price change for the episodes but was also told that I could watch these same episodes for free online. So I logged into Myverzion account online and and found that all the curent episodes were in fact free. This makes no scense at all. Why am I being charged extra to watch content on my TV that is free online. This totally defeats the purposed of paying for cable. The fact that I have to pay extra to watch content on my TV that is now only available for free online is ridiculous. Im convinced that this a mistake that started when the new On demand menu was released. Also I have checked at a few friends and relatives houses over the holidays and was able the to watch the exact same content (current episodes) for free On Demand with Direct TV and Comcast. So imagine tonight when I sat down to watch the latest epsode of Grimm On Demand on NBC with FIOS and found that I had to pay $1.99. I begrudgingly got up off my sofa logged into Myverzion account and found the very same episode is free to watch online. Please fix this mistake or I will be switiching to Direct TV ASAP.

I have preferred tv. I should not have to pay for shows/episodes that are included within that program package. $2 fee is not acceptable. Verizon show are free for all seasons. Your gauging your customers.

I am very disappointed with the recent changes to the On Demand options. Almost everything is now at a cost. I thought that this service was part of our plan and that SOME things like movies and special events were at an additional cost.
Now, you can’t watch ANY series through a season without paying for at least some of the episodes.
The cost of the service keeps going up while we get less for our money.
I am so close to canceling Fios and finding a more affordable option.

I just switched to Verizon from Comcast about a month ago and i can say that there was more free on demand content with Comcast. Not sure if you'll find more affordable options though by swithching cable companies, they are all pretty much the same. So far i am pretty happy with Verizon. The one big pro with them is that they have way more available HD channels than Comcast.

This was a foolish move on Verizon's part, now everone is encouraged to use Amazon Fire stick and download the network apps (where the epidsodes are free if you login via your fios account). Ecomm 101, never drive traffic away

Plenty of shows available for no charge.
They don't end to only be the latest episodes of a series though.

As part of your looking will you be contacting content providers to ask why they charge extra for on demand content? Verizon is not the only provider to do so.

I switched recently from Comcast Xfinity to Verizon Fios and I'm extremely disappointed by the lack of FREE On Demand content. I could watch whole seasons of shows On Demand, and as soon as an episode was aired, it showed up in On Demand. Is it my plan? Do I have to switch to another plan somewhere to get free On Demand shows? Or do I need to switch BACK to Xfinity?

It depends on the show/network.
I have seen some shows/networks that you can get only 3-4 recent episodes.
Some you can get more.
I know when I have checked at my in-laws, COX had similar number of episodes available.
It might be that Comcast has a deal with their NBC/Universal networks or have a different contractual agreement (they are 5 times the size of FiOS) with content providers.
Not always a help, but I have found that if you have a streaming device, you can watch a lot of content on the apps for the content providers.
But that may be changing as so many content providers are either starting their own or joing the streaming service of someone else.
CBS is a big one that limits what you can see unless you subscribe to their streaming service.

I have the same issue with Thomas and Friends which shows for free on PBS, but you have to pay for old episodes on On Demand. Irritating when I see my cable bill (Verizon).
