On Demand charging for new episodes on Channels that I already subscribe to.

Ever since the new On Demand menu launched I have noitced a change in the pricing of On demand episodes on channels that I subribe to as part of my normal FIOS TV package. I first noticed this with a recent episode of Teen Wolf on MTV that I had started watching for Free two days prior then when I was switched over to the new On Demand menu that same episode had to be purchased for $1.99 for me to continue watching it. Next the same issue happened with the latest episode of the Vampire  Diaries on CW. Assuming this was a mistake I called customer service and was told that it was the Channel providers MTV and CW not Verizon that had made price change for the episodes but was also told that I could  watch these same episodes for free online. So I logged into Myverzion account online and and found that all the curent episodes were in fact free.  This makes no scense at all. Why am I being charged extra to watch content on my TV that is free online. This totally defeats the purposed of paying for cable. The fact that I have to pay extra to watch content on my TV that is now only available for free online is ridiculous.  Im convinced that this a mistake that started when the new On demand menu was released.  Also I have checked at a few friends and relatives houses over the holidays and was able the to watch the exact same content (current episodes) for free On Demand with Direct TV and Comcast.  So imagine tonight when I sat down to watch the latest epsode of Grimm On Demand on NBC with FIOS and found that I had to pay $1.99. I begrudgingly got up off my sofa logged into Myverzion account and found the very same episode is free to watch online. Please fix this mistake or I will be switiching to Direct TV ASAP.

Yes. It's garbage. Typical redesign that makes things worse, not better. Where are the channels? They left that out.  HUGE omission. How do you search for anything? Utter crap.

Like many others on this thread I too am tetering on the edge of leaving Verizon. If I do leave it will be up to me to figure out what services will provide the most content that matches what I want to watch. The problem with the big providers is they bundle everything and you get 450 channels of which you watch maybe 100 and the rest you are paying for with no need or desire to ever watch them. On top of that, Verizon has now informed me they are cutting out HBO and Cinemex from my package, and when I spoke to someone at support (which is always some low level person who really knows next to nothing) they told me I wasn't paying extra for those chnnels anyway. I beg to differ. I was paying a ridiculously high rate for a package that included their Ultimate TV HD channels. I chose that package because it included the premium movie channels I wanted. So yes, I was paying extra for that package and everything it came with. If you take away premium channels and expect me to pay the same price, and then tell me if I want those premium channels back I have to pay an additional subscription then you are as dishonest as can be and I need to drop you like a hot potatoe.

And to top things off, everytime they "upgrade" their VOD service they make it worse, and much harder to find what you want to watch. I can't imagine who makes these ridiculous decisions at this company but I am left shaking my head. I could go on and on about issues I have but I suspect my time is better spent figuring out where I am getting my new service from.

Verizon used to be wonderful and now it just basically sucks.

Since the change in Fios OnDemand, there are programs on Nickelodeon that you have to buy when before, my kids could watch for free. One example is the show, "The Loud House." Any idea why there is this new charge?

Is it all episodes or just some? Say older ones?

As they have combined free and paid episodes together, there may be ones that you didn't see before and now do but are paid verisons.

What's up with the charge to watch older episodes of broadcast tv shows?  Who is charging this fee...the networks or Verizon.  This stinks big time.  Half of the episodes are even missing.  So sick of Verizon always making changes that don't help the customer.  We already pay for this service and I resent being charged for anything that was ever shown on (free) TV.  Verizon doesn't even let you send them feedback on their so-called improvements.  Customer Service says to post complaints here and they read them.  Really????  There's gotta be a better service out there.  Their new features are time-consuming and inconvenient.

VERIZON...if you're listening, give us back the old VOD and SEARCH and stop messing with our TVs.

If you read a few posts back, people's are seeing charges on other service providers as well. So most probably being charged from networks.

I don't care what the reason they want to charge for on demand. I'm on hold canceling now. Wanted to post before I did. They said they will be charging from now on and nothing they can do. Some kids shows are 5.49? No thanks

I posted and complained a couple of weeks ago about not only the new VOD interface, but the outrageous configuration of new charges (some episodes of a series free; other requiring payment). I was told that there is a known glitch in the system, that was being worked on. I have not yet seen any positive results of that.

Last evening it appears to have gotten worse, as dollar signs are appearing on shows from Premium channels as well as the networks. Can't say that I really care who is responsible for these problems. What I do care about, is that I'm either being asked to pay twice for the same programming and service, or I have to spend way too much time getting relief.

Verizon really needs to address this issue, sooner rather than later. Either get the technical aspects fixed, or put out a policy statement with a change of terms. It will be better for all involved, including Verizon, that we have the opportunity to make informed consumer decisions.

Why are there now $ signs on network TV shows?

These are episodes the content providers have decided to charge for.

New vod menus combine free and paid episodes together.

Hi, I am also having problems with Verizon. Just signed a two year bundle at a little over 200.00 a month. Went in to watch on demand, $ signs everywhere, even on pay channels. Verizon told me it was the networks. Found out it's NOT the networks, it's Verizon. This is "double dipping". As far as I am concerned they are in breech of the contract I just signed. This IS NOT what I signed up for. I will not pay to on demand network TV or channels I pay for. Contacted comcast which is part owner of NBC and was told this is Verizon only. Switched today, same price for what I have for 2 years PLUS free DVR and voice actavated remote. I do not like being misled by my cable provider. They have just lost a customer of 6 years. I will be charged for breaking contract but the 200.00 Visa gift card I got for switching will help cover that.

I'm furious about this. I rely on the OnDemand service because I can't always be home to watch the shows.

Verizon is saying it's the networks.  I already pay an additional fee for these "networks" like Syfy, HBO, Showtime, STARZ etc.

So, if these channels are going to "double charge" me, I will be giving them and their shows up and I will find a new provider.

This cannot be legal.  You cannot charge me for a channel and then charge me to watch the show!

And this isn't only for last year's shows.  They are doing it on SyFy for this years The Expanse.  If I've watched the episode, then they charge me to watch it again.  So basically, only one person in my household can watch the show without paying a second fee.

Who do you all think you are that you can do this?  What ethics class did you attend?

I'm very close to just giving it all up.   I don't need to deal with thieves.

Can someone explain to me why I wound have to pay for on demand episodes of Major Crimes?  Major Crimes is on TNT which is not a premium channel.  Is there a way I can watch an episode without paying? Also I hate the new format for on demand. Verizon charges enough without charging for on demand for network tv.

When did we start having to pay for on demand episodes of TV shows?

When the content providers  started charging for them.

One of the things that makes this more obvious is that the latest VOD menus puts the pay episodes in the same folders as the free ones.

Same thing is happening to me. Verizon tells me the networks are charging for the episodes. I am even getting charges for my premium channels THAT I ALREADY PAY EXTRA FOR. This is definitely double dipping and unacceptable. Why am I being charged to watch episodes of STARZ shows and HBO shows when I already pay for them? I pay over 200 dollars a month for my cable service and my extra paid channels. I can watch the episodes on my computer for FREE. Luckily I have a smart tv and can get around it by adding the app and watching through the app. Literally so stupid. It definitely has to do with verizon and I feel they are lying when they say the fees are coming from the specific channels. If STARZ wanted to charge ADDITIONALLY  for episodes, they wouldn't be free online through my provider. WHY would I have to pay again to watch a series that I ALREADY PAY EXTRA FOR?  Verizon needs to fix this problem. If not, we will be switching providers and/or giving up cable altogether.

I would have to agree. Something is very wrong. I pay for HBO and it says HBO on demand comes with my subscription. However, when I try to watch something it has a $ next to it. I spoke with Verizon and the rep initially said HBO on demand was an additional subscription (which is not true) and then gave up because she didn't know how to fix it or what to tell me. It really is too much money for no clarity.

have used HBO On Demand and some content is free.

Give me an example of a show you see as having $ next to it.
I'll check at home and see if I see the same thing.
