One Channel Freezing Up

Just wondering if anyone ever found the answer to this? I have the same problem - that went away for a long time, but these last couple of weeks it's been happening at least once a day. It's always the same channel (#504 - CBS in the Boston area) - all other channels work just fine and this particular one keeps freezing up. I have to reboot the STB each time. It happens to also be the same channel we watch most frequently/record things on. Thanks!

@Gweagraff wrote:I just noticed the same thing happened on WMUR HD (509). It must be on the same frequency.
This could be an anomaly or related to the 504 issue, it's hard to say.
My recommendation would be to monitor 509 and if it starts happening more frequently, to contact technical support and get a new ticket issued. Maybe the others on this thread could keep an eye on 509 and see if they are seeing the problem. I'll certainly do that.

Also having the same issue on 504. Just noticed it for the 2nd time in a week but didnt have any issues on 504 before that.
I did however have the same exact issue on NFL Redzone back in the fall. The problem eventually fixed itself but it happened 3 or 4 weeks in a row. I eventually upgraded to new equipment and thought the problem was related to my old equipment but the 504 issue is the exact same (I go back to it and its stuck on Wheel of Fortune from 2 hours ago). If anyone does call Verizon again perhaps have them check for a similar issue with Redzone from the fall? I will try tomorrow as well.

I have skimmed most of the current comments. Same issues as other folks. I'm glad I thought to Google the problem and found this site. On some level I'm glad that I'm not the only one suffering with this, but since Verizon clearly knows about this problem, why hasn't it been resolved??? I bet if a bunch of people stopped paying their bills on time, it might get fixed! I live in Melrose.

Nilsa-
Thank you for your attention to this ongoing problem. We hope this can be fixed soon and --permanently, as it seems to be very sporadic. Will you be checking on it regularly? Please continue to stay in touch and update. We appreciate your help --this has been extremely frustrating in this time of high anxiety.

Well Verizon. It’s today and the problem isn’t fixed. I’m starting a media move through local governments and cable commissions that will allow all Verizon customers to withhold payment until the issue is fixed. This credit should be retroactive to the initial reporting in October 2019 since it is an issue that impacts on the “health, safety and welfare” of the citizens of this Commonwealth. Despite the current dire circumstances, Verizon customers will remember the denials and lack of effort and transparency in dealing with this issue. We are not asking for any Verizon employee to be put at risk to resolve this problem but based on my experience this issue can be solved by any number of techs working at home.
Time is of the essence!! I thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

How many hours have we collectively spent try, rebooting, trying again, calling support...
I watch CBS about 80% of the time, and lost many hours of viewing for which I paid. I want my money back.

Hi Nisa,
Thanks again for keeping us informed. Just to make sure all the facts are in place, This issue was first reported back in October and then again in January. I have outage tickets to support this if you are interested. I really appreciate that corrective measures were taken. I will let you know if the issue is resolved.
Thanks again!

Interesting, it didn’t do it on my end. I wonder if it happens to the same people at the same time. I watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! As well and I didn’t see any freezes but during Wheel of Fortune toward the beginning I did see a dropout for a second. I find it really annoying trying to analyze every single glitch.

So far so good, but a few dropouts on every show. I guess we will just have to watch it and see what happens. VZ thinks its fixed because they sent me a note closing the outage ticket

Hello @HelplessTV,
The red line you are seeing is a progress indicator also known as a flipper bar, which is the expected behavior. As time passes, that red line will get longer and longer, until the next show starts. When the next show starts, it will reset back to only a gray line, and extend from there. The flipper bar comes up every time you change channels, however, you have the option to immediately remove it by clicking on the Exit button instead of waiting 8 seconds for it to automatically disappear.
It makes me happy to know the fix is working.
Thank you for your patience. Have a great weekend and stay safe.

I'm still experiencing freeze up on 504. Anyone else still seeing the issue?
Not sure if this is related, but the green light on my box has been blinking for days. Manual says that the light means software download is in progress. I've rebooted several times a day.
Thanks.
