REMOTES...is RC1445302 the same as philips P144v2? new quantum tv dvr issue....

its 11/14...we just rec'd new set top boxes and a new fios QUANTUM tv dvr...all with new P265v4RC remotes.  i understand that these newer remotes are for tv and set top box only.....no more "dvd" and "aux" buttons.  SO WE DECIDED JUST TO KEEP USING OUR EXISTING RC1445302 REMOTE FOR THE ONE TV WE HAVE THAT HAS A RECEIVER CONNECTED TO IT (WHICH CONTROLS THE VOLUME).

the problem:   this older remote doesn't control the new quantum dvr very well....delayed FF and REWIND...etc. it "WORKS" but there are delays, even wih brand new batteries installed....and the remote worked perfectly with the older dvr we are sending back.

so i noticed i can buy  a 4 device remote for $17.99 philips model P144v2.

the picture of this remote looks JUST LIKE my RC1445302....whcih isn't working effectively on the new dvr.

MY QUESTION-----  is this an update to my older RC1445302?  AKA- will it work, effectively, on the new quantum dvr?

I don't want to buy that remote if it is JUST LIKE the one i already own.

I don't want to have to go old school and use 2 remotes for this tv set up (to control the volume from the receiver).

The remote should work the same way. There are some issues with the new quantum boxes having a lag so that could be all it is. I see it myself from time to time, but not all of the time.

The P144v2 is an updated version and may work better if it is a remote issue, but it may not.

Honestly if you can afford it invest in a Logitech Harmony remote. You can get new ones cheap on ebay. I have a Harmony 650 I paid $40 new for. It controls up to so many devices and is future proof to new devices and is universal. Takes a little work to set it up, but it makes the fios remote look way outdated.

THANK YOU for your replies and these ideas.

I called a verizon rep and was told that my older remotes should work with the new equipment.  we did a re-set of the system and the remotes did work fine for about a day.  we are having trouble with the new dvr and cable boxes as a whole...skipping....not recording correctly...lag...etc....so i am thinking that maybe it has nothing to do with the older remotes.

Reading this makes me more than a little annoyed because the Verizon rep who I spoke with said the older remotes would NOT work with the new equipment, when I asked him that very question.  Its a good thing these forums are up here so people can get real information hopefully before they are misled by the Fios reps who are supposed to be helping.
