I just purchased a new Yamaha Receiver RX-V475 and the codes in the manual only adjust volume and turn off. No codes will turn on the receiver. I also tried the search function with no luck. Does anyone know either the code for this model or other workaround that will allow me to both turn off and turn on the receiver from the Fios universal remote?

You may be out of luck with the Verizon remote. The best alternative in the view of many users is a Harmony remote. Some references::

I'll second that. The Harmony remotes are fantastic. Other universal remotes basically operate like a bunch of remotes duct tapped together. The Harmony truly integrates control of all your devices. Once they are setup, anyone can easily use your system.
My only gripe is Logitech has reduced the number of lower cost remote models available. You may be able to find a refurb unit online; they can be a great deal.
