- I have a new Samsung TV and have my STB in a room upstairs. I have an IR (I think) extender that runs to the STB which controlled the old tv via the Fios remote.
I can’t get Fios to work with the Samsung universal remote or get the Fios remote to work when it is the selected option. The TV recognizes it is Fios through the HDMI 1 port?

The STB is in a room upstairs so the remote won’t point at the STB. I have an IR device (I think) that leads to the STB. While it worked with my old tv the new tv will not recognize anything from the Verizon remote except on, off, and volume. The Samsung universal remote won’t do anything to change channels on Fios. It just shows the current on demand scroll of movies with press ok to learn more (but nothing happens).Did you correctly program the Fios One remote for your TV? Follow instructions to reset and re-program your remote after going to :
Main Menu > Settings > Voice Control > Fios TV Voice Remote > Program Fios TV Voice Remote
Try auto program first, and if that doesn't work, reset and use manual programming. You may need to try several Samsung codes before you get the correct ones. Once it can control the TV see if the IR repeater can control the Fios box.
I forgot to add this:
Can I continue to use an IR extender with my Fios TV One or Fios TV One Mini?
You may use an IR extender by plugging it in to the IR/EXT jack on the back of your Fios TV One or Fios TV One Mini. Voice control and "Find my Remote" features require a paired, Fios TV Voice Remote to function. These features are not currently supported by third party IR remotes or home theater controllers.

If the remotes are pointed directly at the television and the STB, do they work as expected? 🤔

I saw that the STB is on a different floor than the television. To see if the Samsung remote is able to communicate with the STB, bypassing the IR unit and doing a direct test is desired.
Conversely, pointing the Fios STB remote at the television to see if they can communicate with each other requires bypassing the IR.
There is a possibility that the codes for the television are not available for the remote.
