Rewinding live TV on last watched channel

I used to be able to rewind a program already in progress if I stayed on the channel that was last tuned in on the dvr.  If I turned on the box and left it on the last channel viewed, I could rewind at least to the beginning of the program.  In the last few days this ability has disappeared.  I now can only rewind to the point when I turned on the box.  I used this ability all the time and it is a great disappointment that it no longer works.

was anyone able to determine why this function stopped working?

Just started for me also, on both boxes.  Why would Verizon suddenly disable a useful feature?  Maybe they think they're Microsoft, lol.

This is driving me nuts!
I wish they would let us know if this is a bug (that will be fixed) or a new feature (to force us to not be able to skip as many ads)

Verizon will not let us no. They're prob. doing this on purpose to try to have us purchase their enchanced DVR service  & maybe then this feature that mysteriously disappeared will work again. 🤷🤷

Nope, I believe I have the enhanced, (I can record 5 or 6 shows at a time) and it it gone.

I can still record 6 shows simultaneously but the real time, most recently tuned channel rewind does not work.

it was a feature that we frequently used in our household. it's been particularly useful when the channel was accidentally changed.

Surely it is just a bug that will be fixed. In this day and age when more and more people are cutting the cord and watching television via the internet, Verizon wouldn't intentionally shut down a popular and beloved feature.

I've already begun to research alternatives to Fios TV in case this is a new feature and not a bug. it is something that I am willing to cancel our Fios TV service over.

Verizon, please fix this mistake.

Ill submit this thread to support and see what I can find out. I'll post when I hear something.

I agree that this is a BIG problem. I called and they were in denial that the problem exists and stated that this is the way the system has always operated and it’s designed to operate this way…completely contrary to my day to day experience over the years. They also claimed that users like us in this forum are just “confused”.  The one hour real-time last channel buffers are being erased if the tuner does not activate or reactivate them by tuning in them within a  one hour.

This is terrible! I used the rewind a lot!
also, my service has been terrible lately, reboots several times a day & freezes all the time. When I call they want me to upgrade for more money!  No, if you want me to upgrade, keep it same price.
I'm looking into other cable option.

And, now, to "add insult to injury", when you delete an item from your DVR list,  it no longer immediately disappears from the list like it used to.  You can't be sure if you deleted it when trying to clean up your list until you accidently choose it again.   Then it tells you have to completely exit the menu and go back in to see that the items are gone.

According to support the change was intentional in the last update. It was done: "Change was made to reduce reads / writes duration on the hard drive". So it most likely will NOT be reversed.

thank you for the update from support.

if I'm understanding you correctly, until this bug is fixed every who wants to watch to channels simultaneously, as Verizon Fios TV DVR customers have enjoyed in the past, everyone needs to record the two channels at once tgen delete those recordings and do it again?

So for anyone who wants to switch between watching two a sporting events at the same time like baseball and auto racing or golf and soccer or any two summer olympic events, they should set they're DVR to record both events.

Some Verizon Fios customers may have (want) to set their DVRs to record multiple hours of programming until Verizon Fios customer service, customer experience, and customer support can remedy the situation.

reading into this concern for the expense of hard drive repair/replacement, I guess the upside of this bug seems to be that Verizon Fios will cover the cost of replacing the hard drives for customers who experience a drive failure. so, that's something customers can look forward to.

I do hope a fix is found for this bug.

Same here..Now I feel like I have to record to see from beginning.  Used to be able to rewind at least an entire hour on  last viewed channel upon turning on tv/box..

does anyone know if this service is available with any other provider? this was not an occasional thing for me but an everyday/every show thing.  Hitting record only works when you know ahead of time you are going to watch that show. I leave it on the channel I use most often so I can rewind if I want when I turn on the tv. Also, I would bounce back and forth between 2 channels.   It seems to me they are forcing everyone to upgrade if we have to record everything all the time.

serious about any info you may have on other providers and this feature.

Can't do it on Xfinity unless you were tuned to show from the beginning or were recording from the beginning. It will only rewind to where it was when you tuned in the channel.

Just contacted support about this issue  with last channel rewind via chat and they have confirmed in the last firmware update this feature was removed once the box is turned off . They said they will forward the request to the developers about enabling this feature again if enough users request this . I suggest that everyone contact support and request or demand that this feature be brought back if you miss it .

I also called and was told the same thing. We all need to complain to get them to put it back. They just take  it away without any notice and make you think that your system is broken. Also outrageous that they would take a feature away that everybody relies on so much.

This has happened to me also, I called customer service, and they ran all kinds of tests and said if it continues to happen you need to replace the box. So ordered a new box and installed it...to my disappointment it did not fix the issue.
