SEC Network/sports networks

I know that down south SEC Network is offered; however, considering you offer the Big 10 network and the Longhorn network nationwide I don't see how a network for such a huge fanbase isn't offered.  Especially for the Ultimate Package.  Can we please get more sports channels, especially in HD?

The overflow channel for the football games this week on the SEC Network will be channel 332 per this article. They are carrying two games at the same time at noon,4 pm and 7:30 pm.

I reside in Texas and as soon as Verizon Fios was offered in my city, I jumped in with all 4's: TV, phone and internet. I am one who is loyal to a fault when it comes to making a choice and sticking with it. However, I am also someone who dislikes being taken advantage of especially in situations involving big companies turning a deaf ear to their customers. This is precisely what is happening with Verizon dragging their feet inre SEC Network negotiations. Like many in this forum have noted, Verizon is not the only cable company in town, and the deals I am being offered on a daily basis from AT&T Uverse make it a no-brainer to make the switch. We will be in line at our local Verizon store to return all of our equipment on the 28th if a definitive agreement has not been announced one way or the other prior to that date...and yes, my scheduled appointment for Uverse installment is on the 27th.
You ARE losing customers, management. In my case, you are losing a customer who has never once failed to pay on time each and every month. If you are reading these 40+ pages of posts on this matter, you ought to be very concerned over the overwhelming collection of negative voices of your customers.

It looks like many others have come to the same conclusion that I have...it is time to look at other tv and Internet options. All the other major carriers have signed in so there are plenty of options in Dallas/FW. The clock is ticking Verizon...

Verizon by waiting this long you've made my decision for me.  I am now searching for a new provider and gladly so I can watch the SEC Network.  The next time you hear from me it will be my call to cancel.  Adios

Hello All SEC Network Folks,

While we may not be "talking" to Verizon by posting on these forums since they hide behind their walls and will not respond to legitimate customer requests, they are certainly monitoring the forums closely.  I believe Verizon just cut me off so I'm not sure if this will get posted, or if it will immediately be taken down, but keep up the good fight.  I recieved a "private" message from Verizon that said I violated the terms of service by referencing a prior post they sent me.  OK, go hid behind the lawyers and PR guys and corporate communications.  We know that subscriber's interests don't really matter until they start to show up on the bottom line.  Let's show up on the bottom line.

Please cancel your Verizon service now and go with a provider that is carrying the SEC Network (almost any other cable service).  You will not be getting the SEC Network any time soon on Verizon.  Verizon is trying to play hardball with Disney/ABC/ESPN and go to the mat with them (as the PR folks will spin -- all in the name of keeping the Verizon rates low).  Unfortunately, Verizon, with their smallish subscriber base and being the last holdout on the SEC Network has no leverage.  Please show your displeasure with Verizon's actions, and their complete lack of communication and candor with their customers, by doing the only thing that they will pay attention to - cancelling your subscription.

My Verizon bill usually averages $215 for Cable, Internet and Phone.  Not sure how much proft there is in there for Verizon, I assume a good amount, but they will be losing it next week.  Withour the SEC Network, I see no reason to hang onto them.  I am am looking at Dish or Direct TV,  Can anyone please give me recommendations on which one is better?

I was with DirecTV from 1998 until this past May. I was very happy with their service. I would highly recommend them. Their packages are decently priced and I really liked the DVR. I moved to VZ thinking they would be the ones to get the SEC Network since they had stepped out to get the Longhorn network.

Can anybody think of a good reason to stick with verizon when they are so unresponsive on a product that is so obviously popular that every other company carries it? What is it that verizon has that others don't?

I'm    with    you  on  that.   Also,   what  is  their  thinking  as   to  being  the  only  cable  provider  to  not  carry  the   SEC  NETWORK ?    Why    are  the  decision  makers  afraid   to  communicate  with  the  paying  customers  DIRECTLY ?

Have  read  responses that    VERIZON  is  using  the   SEC  NETWORK   as  leverage  for  other   ABC/DISNEY  channels?

Is   the  SEC  NETWORK   concerned   about  surviving   with  out  a  contract  agreement  with  VERIZON ?

Not  at   all  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What    is  the  customer  GAIN   down  the  road    by  VERIZON   not  having  an  agreement   with  the  SEC  NETWORK ?

I agree with you, but it won't happen! Person I spoke with last Friday at Verizon Corporate made it very clear that they will NOT comment about ongoing negotiations with Networks just as they will not comment on union negotiations. It's Company policy. The only way we will hear anything is if and when they reach a deal on the SEC network! They don't care about their customers at all!

I have been with Verizon Fios for 11 years and them not picking up the SEC network as of yet isn't a surprise to me, they will eventually. They also probably won't cave in to threats of people leaving to sign on with other providers, since they can be just as bad or even worse. Cable tv is what it is, you either have it or you don't and it makes no difference who you are with. I had Directv for many years and dumped them when they wouldn't upgrade my equipment, do they miss me, nope and I don't miss them and their rain fade. So relax Fios folks, the network will be here eventually, it took ATT quite a while to pick up the Longhorn network after Verizon already had it. How many folks left ATT over that? Go to a sports club to watch games until they get it. Gig 'em Aggies!!!!

I'm not that patient and I'm on a month to month plan with FIOS so I'll leave FIOS in another week if SEC Network doesn't show up.  Comcast has issues but I'll put up with them to watch SEC football and my Kentucky Wildcats play this season. Comcast will make my transition very easy.

Fios has only been around since 2005 (9 years). The LHN is a flat out joke. I don't even know how you can make comparisons between the two networks. If anything, Fios probably wishes it could have a redo when it came to the LHN. The holdup probably stems from the increased rates that take affect October 1st.  The increase in rates don't take into account the SEC network. Everything has to be reworked.

It's easy to play armchair CEO because a bunch of SEC fans see a bunch of posts from hundreds of people and think everybody wants the the SECN, what's Verizons problem? What people don't see is the hundreds/thousands of posts from customers that probably don't want to pay extra for a Network they don't watch. I'm pretty sure Verizon knows the deadline is the 28th and I'm sure Verizon will add it by then. What I don't understand is why everybody is getting bent out of shape because they're missing the Finebaum show  and SEC classics.

We already pay for a ton of channels we don't watch.  I'm an SEC fan.  I pay for the Big 10 network, Longhorn, Pac 10, the World Fishing Network, NHL network, various MSG channels, etc, etc....and a plethora of other stuff I don't watch either.  But I want the SEC Network, and no I don't mind paying for it.  It's cable.  There will always be networks a very select few watch that some will think "oh who wants that" or "it's not that many people."

Count up how many fans and the success for the SEC Schools in not just football, but basketball, baseball, etc.  Now balance that with a network devoted to ONLY one school (Texas), or a channel based on Fishing.  Or even networks like Al Jazeera, or the 24 hour recipe.TV network.

There are always going to be folks angry they're paying for something they don't think is "worth" it.  But the huge red flag to Verizon should've been that literally every...single...other...carrier is on board with this.  So if Verizon wants to stay competitive in those areas (Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Missouri), plus even around the country considering how many SEC people there are all over (even here in Buffalo - plenty of SEC fans - more in their gear than the UB Bulls for sure), then they need to make this happen.

I will gladly give up World Fishing Network for some seriously good SEC sports.

Especially considering the fact that Verizon has customers in the SEC fooprint, albiet not a ton of them. That to me is unbelievable as to why they wouldn't offer the SEC Network. I can see MAYBE Cablevison not offering it but for Verizon not to is just plan ridiculous.

The   Biggest   problem   in  all  of  this,  is  the  way  cable  tv  is  structured.  if  you  want  one  channel,  you  have  to  pay  for   20   of    them   in  most   cases.   except  what  they  call   PREMIUM   CHANNELS   like  HBO,  etc.   where  you  pay  around  $15.00   a  month  for  the  one   channel.

This  is   an  issue  that  has  been  before  Congress.  argument   being  why  do  people  have  to  pay  for  something  they  don't  want ?

Just   think  of  all  the  people  in  the  UNITED  STATES     who   have  cable  tv  and  only  speak  the  ENGLISH    language,  yet  have  to  pay  for   channels  that  never  Broadcast   in  ENGLISH.

That's   another  argument     we  are  always  loosing.

You're assuming, though, that you pay $75/month and get 750 channels so you should be able to pick just the channels you want for 10 cents each.

That's not the way it would work, though.

For one thing, the stupid channels that nobody wants cost Verizon nothing to carry, or, in some cases, the content provider pays Verizon to carry them so having them reduces your bill.

For whatever channels you don't want and would exclude from your bill if you could, someone else doesn't like your channels and would exclude them from their bill, which is going to drive up the price.

In other words, ESPN is going to get an average of $5/month per cable subscriber whether they get $5 from everyone or whether only 1/3 of the cable-watching public subscribes to it and they charge those people $15/each.

Just read an article (from August 4) that the SEC network will be available on the international space station.

The Washington Post says "

So, in other words, if you’re living in a space station 205 miles above the Earth’s surface, you can watch the SEC Network. If you're a..... Verizon FiOS subscriber, you cannot"
