I know that down south SEC Network is offered; however, considering you offer the Big 10 network and the Longhorn network nationwide I don't see how a network for such a huge fanbase isn't offered. Especially for the Ultimate Package. Can we please get more sports channels, especially in HD?

The reporter from Sports Business Journal is very good. If he reported it then it will happen.

I think you have to understand that even when you are talking to call center supervisors they are just hourly employees. They have no idea what is going on at higher levels unitl someone hands them some information they are supposed to send down to the call center reps. That is why you are getting the same answers. They are reading from a script. Sometimes they may get off the script and that is where you will get conflicting information.
Bottom line is...they aren't "in the know".

The guy who reported this is reputable. Other sports news sources, including Sports Illustrated are quoting him. I agree that the call center reps are staying “on script” and saying there is no deal until an official press release is made by Verizon.

Exactly. This guy reported the Comcast agreement first too. It was about week before it was made official. I expect an announcement by Monday, maybe before. The call center people don't anything more the person on the street. Verizon upper management will not give them any "inside" information to this. It's basically useless to call them about this.

The call center folks will likely only get the information literally an hour or so before the offical release. There is a VERY good reason for this. Too many people "in the know" is bound to lead to the word getting out before Verizon managements wants. By keeping the "offical" word within a small group of people, they control the story. With so many people calling and asking "what channel is it going to be on....what teir is it going to be on....how much extra am I going to have to pay...."
someone is bound to slip up and say something. It's human nature.

Let's wait for an official announcement. Don't believe hearsay at this point in time. When the company is ready, they'll give us the full story.

Actually, putting it on Extreme isn't that bad. It'll be like NFL Network...actually all of the pro league networks, ESPNews, CBS Sports.

The info that I was told late this afternoon from a sales person at Verizon is that no one gets the SEC Network until 8/28 and that only Texas & Florida will get it in HD & SD. The rest of us only get it in SD - channel 75 at the beginning. Eventually everyone will also get it in HD - channel 575. No time line on when we all get it in HD!
This is CRAP! Comcast rolled out the SEC network over a 7 day period but everyone got it in both HD & SD. Who wants to watch a sporting event in this day and age with an HD tv in Standard Definition????

I renewed today with differing informaition, but at this point nobody really knows yet. If Verizon only carries it in SD, I will switch...just as I told the retention specialist this afternoon.

I was just told that the SEC Network will NOT be carried in HD outsidse the South. That is the last straw for me. The customer service agent was downright insulting on the phone. I will be calling Direct TV next week.

Per the comments above, I don't think the people you can get on the phone know anythimg more than we do. Think about it, when's the last time you talked to a Verizon rep or technical support and they actually knew the answer to your question? For me: never.
That said, even if it's not carried in HD outside of the South, will it be available in HD on WatchESPN? If so, I can just cast it on my tv. Not the ideal solution but it may have to work.

Read message# 532 for your answer! You may want to read over previous posts before posting your question. In many cases your question has already been answered.
Thanks!

SEC will operate like the Longhorn Channel does for online access using WatchESPN as long as your TV package includes SEC.

Please, I would like to beg the people at Verizon to add the SEC Network. This is unbelievable that they are not making this available to their subscribers. We get the Big Ten Network and the Longhorn network. Take those off and add the SEC network.
