SEC Network/sports networks

I know that down south SEC Network is offered; however, considering you offer the Big 10 network and the Longhorn network nationwide I don't see how a network for such a huge fanbase isn't offered.  Especially for the Ultimate Package.  Can we please get more sports channels, especially in HD?

The overflow channel for the football games this week on the SEC Network will be channel 332 per this article. They are carrying two games at the same time at noon,4 pm and 7:30 pm.

A Verizon official informed me that Verizon wants to evaluate demand for the SEC Network in non-SEC states before Verizon makes the commitment to broadcast the network in HD. Accordingly, Verizon will only show the network in SD for now. In my opinion, it appears as though Verizon thinks demand for the SEC Network in non-SEC states is low. If customers in non-SEC states watch the network in greater numbers than expected and demonstrate high demand, then Verizon will commit to broadcasting the network in HD.

No doubt that Verizon management are not College Football fans for them to support such a STUPID decision! Way to go Verizon glad to see that you listen to your customers!

Eh, on 2nd thought I'll just use a friends login for WatchESPN to cast the game on my tv.  Verizon doesn't deserve any more of my money.

This is either a clever (albeit insulting)  strategy. Clever because it forces viewers to watch SD in order to be rewarded with HD (how Pavlovian). It could also translate into, "see, everyone is content watchng SD so why bother with HD".  just from a metrics standpoint. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to review the ESPN and other networks stats on natiowide viewership of SEC games for last year alone to see that lots of folks watch....in HD. Maybe a quick glance at rankings, polls and bowl games as well. Compare these with say...the Big10?
While I question whether or not to get so immersed in what is so obviously a "First World" problem, unfortunately (and at the same time, fortunately), I live in the First World.....and this three ring circus with Verizon and the SEC Network is such an annoying waste of time and energy. Both of which I need to deal with Insurance companies........ .

I've done two online chats since the announcement, and both times it was confirmed that I have access to SECN on 75 starting today.  However, HD will be available for my area (Northern VA) for the first game on Thursday since I have Ultimate package.  Hope it's true!

The network will only be in HD in TX and FL, so if you are in Northern VA it will only be in SD. Stupid I know.

Very encouraged to come home today and tune o 75 first and find the SEC network in SD.  Then decided to try 575 for HD and there it was.  Living outside Philly and just hoping that Verizon has blessed the whole footprint with HD.  If not here, I would be moving to Comcast in a heartbeat.

People in the Philly area are already reporting that both SD Channel 75 and HD channel 575 are active.... Hopefully soon the other VHO's will see it active and I'm hoping VHO 7 (Central Jersey) also gets the HD flavor...

Wish I could say the same. I live in the Philly area (19380 zip) and nothing on 75 or 575 even after resetting the boxes.

Getting programming on channels 75 and 575Smiley Very Happy, but here in the Tampa Bay, Fl. area, channels 332 and 832 are showing SEC ESPN Network logos, with no programming. Anyone else see this? What could this be? None of these channels have any information in the guide yet.

Reset my boxes here and nothing yet (NY).  Typed in both sets of numbers and wow...ended up on ESPN2 regular and ESPN2HD.  What a difference.  The SD is a joke.  Looked like TV from the 80s.  Why would Verizon do this?  It's like they're throwing it at us saying "here, now be quiet"....but it's just not acceptable.

So much for Verizon being the leader.  It's already offered in HD in TX and FL (I hope the rumors of other areas getting it are true), so why in the world wouldn't they just offer it everywhere?  It's the same channel line up.  You're not adding anything!

Ugh!

Postal-

332 / 832 is the Overflow channel (similar to what Big10 has). Nice to see you guys are getting that in HD as well.

To the Philly poster - not sure why you'd say you have these channels. They are NOT live in the PA/DE/NJ area.

WHAT?? No HD in NY/NJ?  Verizon execs need to check out the alumni club game viewing parties for every school around NY/NJ.  Apparently they have no idea how many SEC fans are up here.  Who watches shows in SD anymore?  Can't say I have in years
