(Wgich makes it nearly valueless for me.) Well, sort of...it's available in the OnDemand section. No 5.1 audio...Pro-logic only. And some films are cropped of picture information, sadly. (Which makes it nearly valueless for me.) Don't know if this means that it will be added as a linear channel or not.

I just now found this station on OnDemand. At least they show the movies in both HD & SD which is great for me as I don't have HD. I sure hope Verizon adds The Sony Movie Channel on a non HD channel. A lot of great movies.

You can use the scroll option on your remote. On my remote, its the "+" & "-" (plus & minus) button that scrolls the OnDemand movie information.

Yes, but that doesn't provide any info as to whether the movie has been cropped or not. Even Pay OnDemand movie selections don't give that info. I recently ordered the uncut edition of SAVAGES...and was shocked that it was cropped. (For $6 - $7, I expect to see a movie shown in its intended ratio). Instead, I ordered the film via VuDu (which was showing the movie properly). I do wish the movie descriptions would let buyers/viewers know if a movie has been altered or not.
As for the Sony HD offerings, the original FRIGHT NIGHT begins properly and then is cropped after the opening credits. No point in watching further. What a waste.

If you have a "newer" tv and depending on the model, you may be able to uncrop - change the picture size. My tv is 5 years old (Toshiba) and I am able to adjust the picture size (no black boarders).

I think you're misunderstanding. I don't want to eliminate the black bars...if they are there, then I know I'm seeing the movie as intended.. Tthe problem is when the film is a widescreen movie but there aren't any black bars. That generally means that the movie has been cropped and there is NO way to show it in the correct ratio...because it's not being provided. NO device can restore picture information that a broadcaster has eliminated. (It's why I haven't watched a movie on HBO for years...in fact, it may be time to drop HBO, Cinemax, and Epix. I don't like paying money for altered movies.

,,,
Personally I hope Verizon never adds any SD channels again.
You can use a HD box with a SD set to view HD channels.
