This week Fios pushed out interface updates for their TV services. After nearly 3 hours in chats, I was finally told that there is no way to roll back updates once loaded and they base new update options based on posts in the forum. Below are my complaints that they will only fix with enough support on here, if you have the same issues, please mark the post.
1. They removed the chapter function for recorded programs on the dvr (the up arrow that would allow you to move to any 10 min marker in a program).
2. The new Now and Next function causes latency when switching channels. Even after setting it to 0 seconds.
3. They removed the ability to view a single channel lineup in the tv guide. In the past I would just hit guide a second time to see the next 5-10 shows on a single channel.
4. Finally, I just find the prettier guide view harder to actually read and process. Not sure if it is the number of channels, dark screen, or just that it is too busy. Turning off the background video helped a little, but not much.

Please disregard that this topic has been marked as solved. This post was marked as the solution in order to float it to the beginning of this thread for increased visibility.
Dear Verizon Customers,
Thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention. We are listening to you and based on your feedback, we have made SOME additional changes to the new Fios TV Interface with the APR 7.8 update. Here are the interface updates:
- User Interface Improvements
- Guide legibility improvements
- Free To Me filter renamed to Subscribed
- Episode font size updated to fit more characters
- 2 ½ hour guide skipping with prev/next buttons
- Video On Demand updates
- Fixes/Improvements
You will see the above mentioned Fios TV interface changes roll out from 12/09 through 1/13.
Additional responses:
Coloring: Here is another way to navigate to channel groups that used to be colored:
The channel neighborhoods are still organized by the genres you're familiar with. While in the main Guide, press the Guide button again to apply your filters and move over to the Jump To function. Now you can jump your guide to specific channel neighborhoods. If you have Fios TV One with a Voice Remote, while in the guide you can also say “Jump to <channel neighborhood>”.
Last Button: The button labeled "Last" on our remotes for 1100 and 4100's can be configured to operate in one of 2 ways. You can either jump back and forth between your last 2 watched programs, or you can have it bring up the "Last Watched Rail" which contains more of your most recently watched content, including VOD and DVR shows.
Access Menu>Settings>System>Television>Last Watched Rail to enable and disable the Last Watched Rail.
If the "Last Watch Rail" disappears, please use this workaround: Reboot the box or boxes on which the issue is seen to check if that fixes the problem. If it still appears bothersome or comes back, please disable the last watched rail. Access Menu>Settings>System>Television>Last Watched Rail to enable and disable the Last Watched Rail.
We are aware of the Last Watched Rail issue reported in this Community and we will have a fix in place with the next release.
Guide Banner: You can disable the Guide Ad banner setting via the following:
Main Menu>>settings>>Notification>Guide Banners->Disable
Lagging / Slowness / Sluggishness:
If you are still experiencing lagging, slowness or sluggishness when interacting with the set top box after the latest update (APR 7.8), please elaborate on which specific functionality is exhibiting this behavior (ex. Navigating Menu/Guide/On Demand, channel surfing, DVR etc.)?
Please feel free to provide any additional details which will be useful and assist the development team as they further investigate.
As always, we greatly appreciate and value your feedback.
Thank you.

The slowness is a problem but the functionality is horrible. When I’m watching a recorded show, I can no longer pull up the half screen guide (by hitting the down arrow) to view channels. I need to stop watching the recorded show, go to live tv and search that way. This whole release is a mess. Just roll it back and save yourselves time and money and the loss of customers.

Slowness in guide and especially in On Demand to the point that On Demand is unusable.

Using numbers and channel surfing has been more responsive since APR 7.5. However, bringing up the guide, DVR, or especially OnDemand content is PAINFULLY slow. It can take up to 8 secs from initially hitting those buttons before it pops up on the screen.
Navigation still remains sluggish. Info bar still taking up way too much room. Bringing back colors would be nice.

After the 7.5 upgrade, the response time for changing channels is marginally acceptable. However, the response time for all other actions from the remote (calling up the guide, selecting Info, etc.) is measured in seconds -- sometimes up to 5.
Also, I'm still seeing only the "TV" logo on the guide for all channels. That is totally unacceptable.

Where to begin? The remote is still sluggish. The response time when changing channels is frustrating.
Mostly, the function of the Guide is to assist finding and selecting the channels that I want to watch or record. The column that lists "TV" is useless. There is little use telling me that it is TV that I am watching. I want to see the logo of the channel as before. The best part of the previous Guide was that similar programming was highlighted by the same colors. I don't understand why the easiest way to search through the Guide was eliminated. Finally, many people have commented that the font is too small to be read even on large screen TVs.
I hope I have been specific enough.

JUST ROLL IT BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How IN THE WORLD is this software update SO ADVANTAGEOUS to Verizon (and not it's customers) where they cannot just ROLL IT BACK? And save money from numerous band-aids at the same time.

They need to just get rid of it. It's intrusive, a waste of time and space, and nobody wants it.

As often seems to happen when dst ends (or starts) now the guide for NHK (ch 480) is shifted off by an hour. Makes dvr recording pretty tough

Ever since the update in Sept I am seeing an issue where after a program on the DVR finishes playing and it exits to live TV, it almost always exits to channel 594 CBS Sports Network HD. No matter what channel I am on, it will usually exit to 594. Before the update, it would exit to whatever channel I was already on. The 2nd recent update from a week or so ago did not fix this and it's still exiting to channel 594.
I assume this is a bug. Please fix this or help me determine what I can do to change this irritating behavior.

Just please go back. The band-aid isn't helping. There is nothing that this update has improved and it broke just about everything. The band-aid you released last week is like putting tape across a joint to hold steel together. At this point TV is so frustrating to watch I'm find other things to do. Maybe that's a good thing. My contract expiration can't come soon enough. I had to hold my nose while paying my bill this morning because it isn't worth it with the current state of the guide.
Everything has latency on the remote.

In 2020, I have a cable box that takes five to ten seconds to switch channels and one to three seconds to pause or move forward or back 30 seconds. Absolutely absurd.
This level of slow response was literally the reason I switched from Cablevision to FiOS...BACK IN 2012!
When more and more people are quitting cable, moving to a slow and unresponsive interface is quite the terrible decision.

This upgrade is a complete and utter DOWNGRADE.
- All that information at the bottom of the screen after you watch a show (next show, delete button, etc) is COMPLETELY unnecessary and confusing.
- All the remotes in the house now don't work for 1 reason or another; all the remotes, I have to press any button really hard for it to work. One remote won't allow me to use the Mute button (says "not available" when I press it). The other remote won't fast-forward or rewind. And none of them turn the tv off/on.
I don't understand why FIOS had to ruin a perfectly good thing. Watching tv should not be a hassle.

Anyone else having the issue in which it just says "tv" in the guide next to channel numbers (rather than network names/icons?)
I've rebooted our two boxes and our G1100 router several times per instructions I've seen in earlier threads, but it is still just showing "tv"
Is there a fix?
thanks!

The leftmost column with the channel numbers has a generic TV icon for every channel instead of the channel-specific icon or name. Do you expect us to memorize the channel lineup? Particularly with the frequency you do lineup changes.
The next and previous buttons used to move the guide in 3-hour intervals. They no longer work, so you have to scroll forward and back through the guide a half-hour at a time.
As stated elsewhere, responsiveness is also an issue.

Naturally Verizon would make unnecessary changes with this dumb guide. We have the TV One boxes with the voice remote, and there is no "FIOS" button on it, which would allow you to go to live TV. So I have to say "Go Live" into the remote and hope like hell it understands english.
I've fought with them to correct the FIOS Voice Mail feature on the settings menu, as that sometimes doesn't sync with accessing voice mails via other devices.
Someone at the top decided this change to the guide was necessary for the sole reason to **bleep** off customers.
All these problems will get fixed only when they hire someone who actually CARES about fixing them. The guide is total trash!
TIme to look to Xfinity!

My channel guide just shows "TV" and doesn't show the actual channel icon. We have rebooted the box and it hasn't resolved. What can we do to fix this?

I tried to skim through all of the comments to see if this is addressed but there are so many! The guide only has "TV" listed next to each show instead of the channel icon. I am tried rebooting the box twice. No change. Any other suggestions? It is driving me crazy.

Well I guess this is losing steam again. Unfortunately I think most people resigned themselves that the guide is what it is. Verizon, you really failed on this one. But hey I got those cute little "thanksgiving" icons next to my handle. That should make things better.

We have to keep complaining. I don't think there is one person who likes this "upgrade". There are tons of issues and nobody at Verizon Fios is listening!
I pay well over $200/month, and expect quality service for this price. This update is absolutely LUDICROUS.
