This week Fios pushed out interface updates for their TV services. After nearly 3 hours in chats, I was finally told that there is no way to roll back updates once loaded and they base new update options based on posts in the forum. Below are my complaints that they will only fix with enough support on here, if you have the same issues, please mark the post.
1. They removed the chapter function for recorded programs on the dvr (the up arrow that would allow you to move to any 10 min marker in a program).
2. The new Now and Next function causes latency when switching channels. Even after setting it to 0 seconds.
3. They removed the ability to view a single channel lineup in the tv guide. In the past I would just hit guide a second time to see the next 5-10 shows on a single channel.
4. Finally, I just find the prettier guide view harder to actually read and process. Not sure if it is the number of channels, dark screen, or just that it is too busy. Turning off the background video helped a little, but not much.

Please disregard that this topic has been marked as solved. This post was marked as the solution in order to float it to the beginning of this thread for increased visibility.
Dear Verizon Customers,
Thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention. We are listening to you and based on your feedback, we have made SOME additional changes to the new Fios TV Interface with the APR 7.8 update. Here are the interface updates:
- User Interface Improvements
- Guide legibility improvements
- Free To Me filter renamed to Subscribed
- Episode font size updated to fit more characters
- 2 ½ hour guide skipping with prev/next buttons
- Video On Demand updates
- Fixes/Improvements
You will see the above mentioned Fios TV interface changes roll out from 12/09 through 1/13.
Additional responses:
Coloring: Here is another way to navigate to channel groups that used to be colored:
The channel neighborhoods are still organized by the genres you're familiar with. While in the main Guide, press the Guide button again to apply your filters and move over to the Jump To function. Now you can jump your guide to specific channel neighborhoods. If you have Fios TV One with a Voice Remote, while in the guide you can also say “Jump to <channel neighborhood>”.
Last Button: The button labeled "Last" on our remotes for 1100 and 4100's can be configured to operate in one of 2 ways. You can either jump back and forth between your last 2 watched programs, or you can have it bring up the "Last Watched Rail" which contains more of your most recently watched content, including VOD and DVR shows.
Access Menu>Settings>System>Television>Last Watched Rail to enable and disable the Last Watched Rail.
If the "Last Watch Rail" disappears, please use this workaround: Reboot the box or boxes on which the issue is seen to check if that fixes the problem. If it still appears bothersome or comes back, please disable the last watched rail. Access Menu>Settings>System>Television>Last Watched Rail to enable and disable the Last Watched Rail.
We are aware of the Last Watched Rail issue reported in this Community and we will have a fix in place with the next release.
Guide Banner: You can disable the Guide Ad banner setting via the following:
Main Menu>>settings>>Notification>Guide Banners->Disable
Lagging / Slowness / Sluggishness:
If you are still experiencing lagging, slowness or sluggishness when interacting with the set top box after the latest update (APR 7.8), please elaborate on which specific functionality is exhibiting this behavior (ex. Navigating Menu/Guide/On Demand, channel surfing, DVR etc.)?
Please feel free to provide any additional details which will be useful and assist the development team as they further investigate.
As always, we greatly appreciate and value your feedback.
Thank you.

This "new" guide is the worst. Yes it is slow, but the old guide was slow too. I dont see that as a big downgrade. It just looks so bad!!! Verizon had a big advantage with a clean color-coded guide. It's clear that they are now trying to copy the Xfinity guide and failing miserably. The Xfinity guide looks 1000 times better. There is no reason for Verizon to develop such a poor design in 2020. I am sure an elementary school kid can design something better.
Verizon - If you are going to remove the color-coded listings, at least get creative with it and use a transparent gradient shade of the old colors in the listing corners. Something very subtle would be a huge improvement. As it is, if there is no update to this guide, I may switch to Xfinity or just cut the cord all together. SO HAPPY I didn't renew my agreement with Verizon.

Why is it that the Guide is now maybe a size 5 Font???
Who would even think that it is okay to have the entire Background displaying what is playing while TRYING TO READ THE GUIDE???
This update is truly NOT User Friendly at all! It gives me a headache looking at it. This alone makes me want to search for a new Cable provider, or just stick with Netflix only. Do you all do Quality Review before releases?
PLEASE GO BACK TO THE OLD GUIDE.

Am I the only one that used the "up" button to use a guide that shows current shows along with a live view that takes up a quarter of the screen? This new mess is a deal-breaker for me. Sad, cuz I've paid an inordinate amount of money to Fios over the last fifteen or so years because I loved that interface. If that's gone, I'm gone. If I have to adapt to a new, subpar guide, I'll do it for a lot less money.
PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD GUIDE!

This new user interface is horrible. Very slow. Why show all the images when just moving to the next channel. The info page is just not the information one needs. The guide is pretty useless. Font too small, no proper coding.
Please provide either a way to go back to the old style our some more extensive customization.
I just want to watch a show and see the helpful information about it. I don't need to see upcoming or next shows every time I change channel. Perhaps you should beta test these first.

The new guide is absolutely AWFUL!!!
1) No color coding of Movies, Sports etc makes it much harder find the content I want to watch.
2) New font, layout, and color scheme make it HARDER to read. White on grey overlaid on live broadcast, really??? What **bleep** thought of that? More to the point, what group approved of it???
Frankly, I know I'm wasting my time. They won't change it back and they won't listen to consumer feedback to try and improve on the garbage they've produced. To do so would be to admit they were wrong.

New guide rolled out to our boxes today. Very disappointing. Really miss the guide along the right side and the small live screen visible during guide.
Has VZW acknowledged any of this feedback? I don't mind them trying something new so long as they accept criticism and adjust the things people don't like.
2020 just keeps on giving!

Agreed. the inability to select only one channel to view is annoying, as is the lag it is taking to look through the guide. I don't like the new appearance and I don't know why the info bar has to stay visible on recorded shows for so long.
The new screen is hard to read and I can't imagine how that passed approval for the visually impaired. If you don't want to fix it, then give us a way to roll back this horrible change.

Completely agree with everything here. The update Fix has broken something that didn’t need to be fixed. It’s much slower and good functionality is removed. Even the previous update that made it such that the “last” button would show the previous several channels as opposed to just switching to the last one was bad. It’s very slow and defeats the purpose, I don’t use it anymore.
Verizon: Please just revert to what it was last year.

I am not sure if this is the correct place for this but I HATE the new guide set up. It is not easy on the eyes. I can no longer see what is playing while browsing. I can no longer use the left arrow button to go back a screen to get to the main guide so I have to keep looking at the remote to find the last button. Can we have a way to revert this?? So annoying.

I HATE the new channel guides!!!!!
Movies used to be in red, sports in green, etc!!!! Now it’s all BLACK & WHITE!!!
My Favorites 1&2 all mixed together!
You made everything so much HARDER & MUCH MORE COMPLICATED!!!!
Updates should make things better, but rarely do as in this case!!
Time to drop Verizon and switch to Comcast!

HATE the new guide. The look is awful!!! They remove the color coding which was very helpful. Doesn't tell you the channel just the number. The icons on the left are way to small to be of any use. I absolutely hate it. I am no longer under contract, this may make me switch back to Comcast.

SLOW and FRUSTRATING ENOUGH TO QUITE THE SERVICE. It is as though they tried to do too much with something that just does not have the processing power to support it. I have to try 3 - 4 times when keying in a channel. If you type fast, it drops #'s, if you type slow, you time out. If you try to skip forward 30 sec and hit the skip button more than once without a 2 count in between commands, the box responds with commands that were not requested. Not sure how this can make it from the workbench to production in this state. Don't they test these things? So slow, and so bad that I will be changing service as the TV experience is now that frustrating.

Whoever had the bright idea to change the guide without getting feedback, should be demoted, if not fired! This is the typical crap that happens, when they outsource their I/T department

So the new guide update just hit our TV today, and it’s caused us unnecessary frustration. We HATE it. I miss the color coded programming especially, but the scrolling is slow and the PIP is gone. In a year that has brought nothing but chaos, when we are spending much more time at home watching TV, WHY did Verizon think this change was a good idea? There’s little that brings comfort these days, now we have to deal with navigating a frustrating guide for our main form of entertainment. Every time we’ve hit the Guide button today, we audibly groan out loud at the reminder of how awful the new set up is. PLEASE change it back. This is NOT an improvement.
