I left Comcast to come to Verizon. I was happy and now I'm thinking of Comcast again. Channels are being removed from my line up without notice. They email about everything else, why not tell me that? Now they have free on demand and state game of thrones is free, it's not in the free line up.

I left Cablevision for Verizon FiOS and so far I am semi-happy with Verizon FiOS but in 18 months whoever gives me the best deal will get my business, Cablevision already offered me to pay any penalties for me to go back.

At least the newcomers are able to access AccuWeather. Those of us who have been loyal customers for quite some time and have the old remotes are unable to access the channel that replaced the Weather Channel. Of course, we can buy new remotes at $15 each, but it wasn't our idea to change, so why should we have to pay? I view this as a loss of service but cannot receive compensation.

? what do you mean. There should be no problem accessing Accuweather. Its not especially hard to access, and all the remotes I now of can access it. PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE SUGGESTION ON CHANNEL 49 to access it by pressing FIOS TV, that is actually the hard way to get to it and doesn't work on my Quantum boxes in FL. In NY it gets me to the my FIOS TV menu (which should be removed as useless) and then is hard to locate.
The regular channel is in place of TWC on channels 119 and 619. The Accuweather widget is accessed by selecting widgets.

This has become a pretty standard practice by now and people are starting to catch on. More channels are being dropped than added but the cost of people's bills continue to increase. The fact that they dropped a bunch of widgets which gave them an advantage over their competitors is now making them no different than the competition. Unless a bunch of verizon customers get really angry about what has been going on and start getting on verizon's case about it then the status quo of them dropping channels while increasing the cost of people's tv bills will continue. Companies like cablevision and time warner cable have lost customers to verizon to the point where those companies are looking to get out of the tv business. As far as comcast is concerned they are going to be offering 2gbps for $300 a month according to a leaked memo while verizon still offers 500mbs for $310. So with comcast you get four times the internet speed that you would get with verizon if you are willing to pay at least $300 a month for it. None of this of course would have been possible without google fiber giving these companies a run for their money with their $70 for 1gbps deal or $120 for cable tv and internet at 1gbps.

Not that many channels have been removed except by the channel providers. Most notable exception TWC. Many have been rearranged to other packages. Actually a fair number have been added over the last year
Not aware of any being removed without notice, of course might be short notice. Usually if you are active in one of the boards about Verizon FIOS you will hear rumors of such channels even before the notices.
Consider preferred or Custom if trying to keep costs down. Note that custom starts getting expensive if you find you want too many channels located in different add on packages.
Consider Ultimate if you want most channels.
Be careful when choosing Extreme as certain channels in the preferred package are not included, although it has more total channels than preferred.

My bundle is up in September and I just may go back to Cox.
I'm looking at what other providers are offering.
My issues have been many since switching to Verizon 3yrs ago.
The straw that broke the camels back was removing TWC. I have family in TX and they were hit with a F1 and normally I would have had TWC on and seeing what was happening. But instead I have AW which is useless. I really want TWC back especially with hurricane season here in NE. Channels being moved to different tiers or removed all together can be disheartening for sure.
Good Luck Everyone
