Very distressed to learn Verizon is removing Sportsman Channel from their lineup
The ability to receive Sportsman channel weighed heavily in my decision to renew my FIOS cable subscription.
Unless the channel is immediately restored, I will consider Verizon in breach of contract with me and will seek another provider. This company cannot arbitrarily bait subscribers into contracts and then change the terms.
Fortunately, I live in an area with more than one cable provider, in addition to the satellite options.
Urge Verizon to restore Sportsman Channel immediately, if they hope to retain my patronage.

Too bad it wasn't in Spanish they would never have cancelled it! More Spanish channels, less choice for us.
I agree we need the channels we chose Verizon for, first they dump the Weather Channel and now the Sportsman's Channel, but lots of shopping and spanish channels

You obviously never read the Terms of Service that you agreed to when you signed up for FiOS. They are not in breach of their contract, it's spelled out that they can add, change and delete channels. I suggest you read your Terms of Service.

Same here. They replaced the Weather Channel with some useless substitute. Now they remove Sportsman Channel and suggest some lousy alternatives. I am waiting for them to cut NFL and suggest watching the Golf channel instead. I want the Sportsman Channel back, the weather channel back, and if they have to cut something might I suggest any of the half dozen shopping channels, either of the two horse racing channels, the karaoke channel, ...
I thought the whole point of paying extra for this package was to get the additional content? I wouldn't have even cared about raising the price. But to yank away the shows I watched without notice or input from customers .... This is just pathetic service.
DirecTV is starting to look better every day.

They do get indirect input from customers.
They can monitor the number of viewers for each channel.
Then make financial decisions on if it is worth keeping a channel.
Keep in mind, it is not only the price per customer (not viewers) they have to pay, but there are fixed costs to connect to channel as well.

I too am upset with Verizon for dropping the Sportsman Channel. It was the main reason I chose to add the sports package to my lineup. Verizon offeres hundreds of channels of lousy programming, and drops interesting and unique channels. Go figure! I'll be shopping for a new TV provider...or maybe it is finally time to cut the cord for good!

I was reading a thread someplace else. People there were complaining about how Dish or DIrecTv had dropped MavTV (which is owned by the same company as Sportsman and Outdoor).
So it happens on other providers as well.
Nature of the business as people become cord cutters, content providers raise their rates and customers complain about paying more.
