Suggest Channels to Add to FiOS TV
Kathleen
VZ Employee Emeritus

Hello All,

I've seen quite a few threads and posts floating around suggesting various channels/programs you would like to see on FiOS TV.  In an effort to consolidate the information, I have decided to create this single thread about the subject.  Feel free to reply to it with your suggestion(s) on what you would like to see on FiOS TV.

Please note:  I make no promises as to whether or not you will see these channels/programs on FiOS TV.  Though I do know that the right people here at Verizon are looking at this thread for your feedback and advice on the matter.

Regards,

NASA TV !!!!!

It's FREE to provide:  "NASA TV now has a full-time HD Channel available at no cost to cable and satellite service providers

The NASA TV Public, Education, and HD channels are "free-to-air," meaning your cable or satellite service provider can carry each at no cost. Contact your local cable or satellite service provider about carrying any NASA TV channel."

PLEASE add NASA, preferably before the last shuttle missions are over.  Discovery's last launch is this week!

Actually, you can see coverage of the launch (in glorious HD!) on HDNet   (NASA on HDNet)  , Channel  569.. Unless it is delayed or postponed, it is scheduled for  3:30 PM today, and will be rebroadcast at 10 AM tomorrow.

News report was on and :

"Electrical glitches have caused a launch delay for the final flight of the space shuttle Discovery. NASA announced that its Prelaunch Mission Management Team wants to give engineers more time to look deeply into electrical issues from a main engine computer controller that cropped up this morning. Therefore, the launch of space shuttle Discovery on STS-133 has been delayed until at least Thursday, the space agency said. "

Thank you for the information and the updated launch schedule - I was already planning on viewing the launch on HDNet.  But, there's more than the launch.  NASA TV  broadcasts extensively during a shuttle mission, including live feeds from the shuttle and international space station during the crews' working days - even broadcasting live feed from helmet cams during space walks - and runs daily mission highlights programs during off hours.  I used to watch these when we had DirectTV, and would love to be able to view them through Fios.

I've seen other shows on HDNet from inside and outside the station, as well as other NASA programming.  Obviously, not as extensively or as often as a NASA channel...but at least there is some of it to be found there to tide us over until FIOS has the capacity to add it sometime in the future.

TheCoolTV - "Just Music."  Local SD channel that airs Music Videos 24/7, from 70's-Now...  Videos aired are tailored to the artists that viewers want to see, not what mainsteam decides for them.  They even have a request line and Facebook.

It's already available free via DTV antenna (broadcast in select markets), so it should be easy to add to the "local area" lineup!  (Tampa, FL, please)

BBCA HD. Nothing like seeing ads for shows now being broadcast in HD only to find Fios doesn't offer it.

AMC HD

G4 HD

I do agree though any channel offered in HD should be carried if you already carry the SD channel

BBC America HD

I'd also like the side channels to our locals put higher up in the guide rather than just left at 004-1, 004-2 etc.

I have to agree with the other people in this thread that Verizon should really carry every available HD channel, but if I had to choose a select few:

1) BBC America HD

2) G4 HD

3) MSNBC HD

AMC HD

HBO On Demand in HD

Both available.  Just expend a bit of effort to look for them instead of complaining that they;re not there.

HBO HD already exists as a channel (actually multiple channels).  If you mean HBO HD VOD, that is not what this thread is about.

I would also like to see, at some point, Verizon end their relationship with inDemand for providing the season packages and go to more of a direcTV model (unless inDemand will be adding HD). Fox Sports Net, the regional carrier for MOST teams, is soon to be 100% HD and I would like to watch the out of maket games in HD. I hate being limited to one at a time.

Other Channels:

MSNBC HD

NASA TV

G4 TV

AMC HD

IFC HD

TMC HD

NBA TV HD
