Suggest Channels to Add to FiOS TV
Kathleen
VZ Employee Emeritus

Hello All,

I've seen quite a few threads and posts floating around suggesting various channels/programs you would like to see on FiOS TV.  In an effort to consolidate the information, I have decided to create this single thread about the subject.  Feel free to reply to it with your suggestion(s) on what you would like to see on FiOS TV.

Please note:  I make no promises as to whether or not you will see these channels/programs on FiOS TV.  Though I do know that the right people here at Verizon are looking at this thread for your feedback and advice on the matter.

Regards,

I second these choices, especially NBA-TV HD and MSNBC HD.  I would also like to see HBO ON DEMAND HD movies.

I think many of the original requests are now available, but this board needs to be cleaned up, and frozen. Vote here that a better way to track wish lists be created. This way it would be possible to direct all request to the Channel Vote Board, and then freeze this thread. I want a place where we can manage what is requested and stop this begging board.

I myself would like to see this board more about discussions on what is available and where to find it, rather than what we don't have. We have much more or the same as what is available with other providers. If you count every local channel available in every local market like some do, we would have many many more. Yes we could use some channels that are available and not yet on the system, but I believe posting requests here is just a way to vent and waste space. MY 2c

We have YES nationally. However, if you are not in the MLB "market area", you would not be able to view live games.

Hi:

As I am a subscriber in NY (on Long Island), my list includes some channels blocked by Cablevision's ridiculous agreements but here goes:

MSNBC HD (Cablevision blocked)

BBC America HD

NBA HD (promised when I subscribed)

C&I HD (promised when I subscribed)

MSG HD and MSG+ HD (Cablevision)

AMC HD (Cablevision)

E! HD

Turner Classic HD

Cartoon HD

IFC HD (Cablevision)

Fuse HD (Cablevision?)

G4 HD

CBS College HD

Fuel HD

Style HD

Headline News HD

Investigation Discovery HD (TW Cable is adding)

TruTv HD

ION HD

Starz West HD

FIOS 1 Long Island recently launched - needs to be in HD

NASA Select (is it available in HD?)

Also, I have a suggestion not previously posted - while I was with Cablevision, they had a local local forecast for the NY Metro area on the HD channel which FIOS doesn't carry but should. The national view on the locals on the 8's is not cutting it and a better service is available.

Thanks for allowing comments.

1. NASA-TV - some programming is offered in HD.  Offer that channel with HD and you will have something none of your competitors have.  Even when the shuttle goes away, we'll still have lots to see with some of the upcoming probes to Mars and the development of the next generation of manned US vehicles.

2. CBS College Sports HD - so glad you got this in SD since many of my college's games are on this channel.   HD would be a nice plus.

3. BBC America HD

4. Turner Classic Movies HD - great channel.  Would love to see it in HD.

5. AMC HD - used to be great, but still offers a lot of good movies in between all the commericals.

6. RTV - I know Retro TV is primarily for broadcast stations, but I think some cable systems offer it to.  The programming looks pretty good to me.

7. Cartoon Network HD

8. MSBNC-HD - don't really watch it all that often, but they've completely reconfigured their on air look for HD making it hard to watch in SD.

9. Ion HD locals - I know my local Ion station broadcasts in HD.  I'd love to have it on Fios.  They offer infomercials during the day, but they have some pretty good movies at night in HD. (Hunt For Red October looked real good)

10. NBA-TV (both SD and HD) - seems like this should have been on Fios long ago.  We have all the other major sports network owned channels, why not this one?

I just wish that Verizon would give me the same local channels that I used to receive back when I had a regular TV antenna on my roof.  If I am located in the 'green' reception zone per the FCC map then I should get that channel delivered to me whether I use Verizon or any other carrier.  In my case, that means that in central New Jersey we should get the local Philadelphia channels that I got before I switched to Verizon.  There is no wall between where the so-called New York market ends and the Philadelphia market begins - it just isn't than black-and-white.  It amazes me that I get WGN (Chicago) and TBS (Atlanta) while, despite being 20 minutes (really - just 20 minutes driving at legal speed) from the legal border of Philadelphia but a full hour from New York - that you have decided that central New Jersey is exclusively a New York market.  Please note that your competitor - Comcast - does provide this area with BOTH NY and Philly channels.  What I have now is no fun as a Phillies / Eagles / Flyers fan -  and as you might imagine - switching allegance to a NY team is not an option.

I gotta agree with SIMARLOW, I know that it is probably a huuuuuge stretch to get SKY News on FiOS, but to get that channel would make me a FiOS customer for life! I fell in love with SKY when I was living in London, I loved it even more than BBC News 24!

Oh good thought.  I suspect there are reasons why a lot of the english language news channels from overseas would not be allowed here.   However, if they could do it, it would be huge.

They already have BBC News - which I watch frequently.  There are Russian, Japanese, Pakistani, and French english news channels that would be good in addition to Sky.

I think Sky News would be feasible...it's available in Germany, The Maldives, Israel, Australia. Sky is available in 16:9 SD right now, and will be HD soon.
