Suggest Channels to Add to Fios TV
Kathleen
VZ Employee Emeritus

Hello All,

I've seen quite a few threads and posts floating around suggesting various channels/programs you would like to see on FiOS TV.  In an effort to consolidate the information, I have decided to create this single thread about the subject.  Feel free to reply to it with your suggestion(s) on what you would like to see on FiOS TV.

Please note:  I make no promises as to whether or not you will see these channels/programs on FiOS TV.  Though I do know that the right people here at Verizon are looking at this thread for your feedback and advice on the matter.

Regards,

Don't look for TCM-HD anytime soon.  However, I've heard that G4, E!, and STYLE may be added in early 2010.  There will be 4 or 5 new channels added by the end of September, and probably NBA-TV  and LEAGUE PASS HD a few weeks later.

As many may know, EPIX-HD will also be added whenever it launches.  Unfortunately, going by the free previews, they are cropping at least 25% (or more) of the picture for new release movies (such as INDIANA JONES 4, IRON MAN, etc)...something movie fans should keep in mind in case there is a fee to access the channel. (Personally, there is no way I will pay for a service that does this.)

I also would love it for you to add the Mountain West Sports Network (goes by The Mtn).  It is like the BigTen Network, but shows all the college sports from The Mountain West Conference.

This Football season, it will show teams like BYU (currently #7 in the AP Polls), Utah (18th in the AP poll), TCU (19th in the AP poll), Air Force, Colorado State, Wyoming, New Mexico, UNLV, and San Diego St.

This channel shows more that Football and Basketball, but it would be a great addition to your sports lineup.

Thanks.

Not 100% official, but it is my understand that the next channels to be added (by the end of September) are...AMC, IFC, WE, and Fuse.  EPIX (for those who like to have new movies cropped to eliminate picture information) will probably be at the end of October.

I just registered for this forum in order to add my vote for BBC America HD.

Please and thank you.

Definitely BBC America HD! (and VOD content!!)

NASA TV would be cool.

Now that I have NFL Network in HD, it would be awesome if we could get the NFL's Red Zone Channel, too (in HD, of course!)

Add BBC America in HD and I'll be your best friend for life.

I would like to see some more channels added to the International packages, particularly, the Korean one. For $24.99, I only get four channels—two of which are absolutely worthless. 24/7 coverage of a board game and 24/7 Christian broadcrasting aren't exactly my cup of tea. There are three major television networks in Korea; Verizon has one (MBC), so how about the rest? The big three are MBC, SBS, and KBS. Let's make it happen!

just a question. not knocking it or anything, just a question... What difference would it be between TCM HD and just standard TCM?  Isnt all the movies on Turner Classic Movies standard def anyway. I've never paid any attention to the movies on that channel but it seems to me that the classics are not HD to begin with so even if it is comming in on an HD channel, the show will still be in SD. Seems rather redundant to me. Do they actually show HD movies on TCM?

Actually, most of the classic movies were originally shot on 70 mm film and in a widescreen aspect ratio.  70 mm film has higher resolution than than 1080 HD has so it is possible to have these classic movies converted to HD.  Whether they actually have any is a question I can't answer (your closing question).

They're working on it, so right now the movies are just upconverts.  Might be a year, give or take,  before they are actually showing movies in HD.  So I can wait...(but I want it when they do!)

Happy that we'll be getting EPIX.

In Northeastern Mass they should dump WSBE in favor of HD feeds of WMUR,WENH,and WBPX.

(If they can add those 3 HD channels AND KEEP WSBE,that would be OK)

Also what channel will Epix be on?

I currently have Extreme HD with the Movies/HBO/Cinemax package so I EXPECT to have Epix at no extra charge 🙂

I don't think they should dump WSBE, mainly because the FiOS lineup is the same throughout all of Eastern Mass (except Bristol County), and they didn't start carrying WSBE until recently. I am assuming it's because it has been available on cable in a lot of those areas (southeastern Mass and Plymouth County) for years, and people lost it when they went to Verizon, and think of it as an added bonus for customers in northern Mass. Though I do agree about the HD feeds of WMUR, WENH, and WBPX.
