Just got FIOS TV and have a HD TV. Use the STB Motorolla HD QIP 7100. When i pull up the tv guide its shows as 4/3 not full wide screen. It has two black bars on each side of the guide wasting alot of space. TV shows are full screen but the guide doesnt use the whole screen. I used to have Dish Network and the guide was full screen as it should be. So is there an option under settings that will make it full screen for the guide?????? If not what nuckle head made it this way.

An HD guide should be coming soon. The 4:3 guide was stretched to 16:9 on the 7xxx boxes in December with the 1.7 release, but then was/is being reverted back to its native format (4:3) with the 1.7.1 release.

Ok so when this update is available will it happen automaticly or will i need to do something.??
Seems really strange a HD box didnt come this way in the first place. Seems like someone dropped the ball big time.

It will update on its own.
The STB software doesn't discriminate between SD and HD boxes; it's made for all of them by Verizon (not Motorola), so it's not really an issue of an HD box "coming with it."

Odd...I had my new HD box for a few days and the menu looked great widescreen- now it is back to 4:3, would I have received an update without knowing about it? Still getting used to the new TV w/HD and just starting to t-shoot. Definitely annoying though!

yes updates are automatic, and happen in the middle of the night.....
Too many people complained that guide was "stretched" and not "true 16:9" whaaaaaa.....
So verizon scrapped it back to 4:3 untill they have a "real HD guide"
when I press guide, and notice something different.... I think to myself, "looks like they changed something".... Then I continue to look for the show I want to watch...

Well a friend of mine has a fios DVR box and his guide is full screen on his HD tv. So it appears to be a 7100 box problem only. Why it wasnt a 16-9 guide from the start is strange. Should be a simple menu option to have the 16-9 guide when connected to a HD wide screen TV.

@FiOSTV says they will draft up release notes for 1.7.1. That was a few days ago though.
