I have a Sony TV and FIOS - have had it for over a year with no problems. Recently, when you turn power on the tv, the picture and sound appear and then go dark and silent for about 20 seconds. Then, it comes back for about 10 seconds and then goes back off about 20 seconds. I have tried unplugging tv,hdmi, deleting dvr programs which was about full, chatted on live chat with Verizon, still can't figure out what is wrong. Did something get pushed on the controller (by 3 teenage sons) that would cause this - standby?? pause?? Looking for answers!! Need to tape a football game tomorrow!!!
There are several things that could be the issue. What model TV and STB to you have?
I have a Sony LCD Project TV and is the STB the Verizon dvr? If so, it is Motorola QIP6416-2. I went to buy a new HDMI cable but then realized I don't have one - I must just have a component cable.
search around on this forum and you'll find that many people have a similar problem due to a problem with the STB and HDMI cables. I was told to temporarily use component while Verizon worked on a fix.
