Normally you should always call 1-800-verizon. Yes you will be able to talk to a real person once you get throught their menus.
Note that for certain things, for example billing, they only have people so called Business Hours.
They may occasionally give you different numbers to call back on an open problem, BUT YOU Should never start a new problem by using such numbers.
