TWC Sports Net?

Does anyone know if Fios is going to pick up the new Time Warner Cable Sports Network come October 1, 2012?  I really don't want to pay the termination fee in order to switch to Time Warner Cable just so I can catch the Laker games in Southern California. I've actually been pretty content with Fios and would hate to switch.

Seriously.

I really hope the flood gates open now and every cable / sat provider wise up like Charter and gets a deal done before they start losing customers.

Your turn FIOS, please get a deal done in the next few days.

We want our Lakers!

With all home & away Lakers games on TWC sports net, I can't imagine FIOS would not carry it.  Accourding to TWC, they are negociating with all TV providors.  I'd love to know for sure if FIOS will carry it.

I would like to know for sure too. I wonder when we'll find out?

What's going on with FIOS and TimeWarner?  We need to have all Laker games broadcast on FIOS.  What a bummer if we can't get the games.

I heard that Verizon is in negotiations with Time-Warner at this time to carry the Laker games....I set up a live chat with Verizon..but they could not tell me (or won't tell me)

We're aware of the channel and have been actively engaged with Time Warner Cable over the past several months. Unfortunately, at this time we have been unable to reach acceptable carriage terms for our customers.

A few key things to keep in mind:

1. Verizon has been and continues to be in negotiations.

2. No other provider (other than TWC) has signed a carriage agreement yet.

3. About 1/3 of the Lakers games this season (including the first few games) will be aired on National TV and available to FiOS TV customers.

You can check out the full TV schedule for the Lakers here:

http://www.nba.com/lakers/schedule

And for the Clippers fans out there, you'll still be able to find games on Prime Ticket, channel 577 (HD) or 77 (SD).

A handful of the Clippers games are also nationally televised which means they'll be on NBA TV, ESPN, ABC or TNT instead.

lol verizon already giving the lame justification to keep customers that 1/3 of the games are going to be nationally televised. We don't care about that. we care about the 2/3 that aren't.  We don't care about the other provider, we care about the cable company we pay for.

Thank you for a response though even though it's basically a talking points statement. At least it is something as previously there have been 0 answers.

We are smart enough to see **bleep**, so it makes it seem like **bleep** when you say you're trying to get it, but then give out reasons and try to persuade customers to stay with you even know the season hasn't started yet. You're trying to get it but.........we can see 1/3 of the laker games on national tv, we are trying to get it but.........well other companies don't have it so there.......in your face! Hey customer, you're dumb enough to not know laker games are nationally televised and that other companies haven't got a deal either.

The channel started last monday and it is obvious verizon doesn't care which is why nothing was said prior to inform the customer of what was going on. Not even a "we hopefully expect to get a deal done by the start of the regular season"

What this tells me is that Verizon really doesn't give a **bleep** either way.

You and F2 are certainly entitled to your interpretation of the information I'm currently able to share with you on this topic, but I just wanted to assure you, Verizon does care.

You probably already know this, but because negotiations are a very sensitive process, it is extremely rare for much information to be made readily available to customers or even to other Verizon employees outside of the content acquisition team. If Verizon had completely walked away from the negotiation table we definitely wouldn't be telling you we are still in negotiations.

C'mon ryanca. You can be passively appearing to be at the "negotiation table" but not really care about making a deal or not. You can even make a calculated business decision to not reveal or delay the inevitable in order to keep customers in limbo and take in an extra months payment. So simply saying they are "negotiating" at this point in time doesn't mean much.

This is why there were no announcements made way before you posted. Things like, " verizon will do everything in it's power to provide this channel to our valued customers" That would show me they care and are serious about getting the channel.

Not making it known to customers that they are even negotiating is a pretty big hint that they really don't care much. Looking at things now, i know verizon is low man on the totem pole here. What like 4 millions subscribers nationwide?

So in the end it is probably a calculated risk they are taking because they simply don't have many people that actually have fios and are laker fans.

Problem is this isn't like the pac-12 network where fans of those teams still see 90% of their teams games and can find other similiar sports programming that will satisfy them.

Laker fans will not stay once the regular season rolls around .they just wont. Not seeing the lakers isn't a real option. TWC knows that laker fans will leave but they aren't even concerned much with measley fios. They 'd rather stick it to Dish, Comcast and DirectTv.

This verizon negotiation is about penny pinching, plain and simple in combination with trying to estimate how many customers will leave if said deal doesn't get through.

I understand it is complicated ,but verizon is doing very little to indicate they actually care about the customers that want this channel.  (which is of course why you were directed to write a pre-written statement from up top  and pass it down to us  Smiley Wink)

Wow...

1. Of course your in negotiations otherwise we would have the channel by now. How about letting us know what your true intentions are? Are you getting nowhere with the negotiations? If so just come clean and admit to it so we can drop you and switch to TWC.

2. Thanks for letting us know no other provider besides TWC is carrying the channels. Appreciate you caring so much about us that you had to remind us that we either take it or leave it.

3. Really 1/3 of Lakers games are Nationally televised. Wow, there must be demand for Lakers games even outside of their local market.

Lastly you had to add insult to injury by mentioning that Clippers games will be available to watch on Verizon.

Come on man... Really...

F2, the mentioning of other providers not having it is a tactic to deflect blame from themselves. As a verizon customer we don't care or pay for other providers and what they do. It is being used to shift blame on TW which is **bleep**. Verizon isn't a big cable company. More people easily have TWC, DISH and Direct tv, so this isn't some mega deal they are working on which further adds to the frustration.

If you are mad about Fios not carrying the new Lakers TWC channel, please do your part to make your voice heard by signing this online petition, which will be sent to Verizon. So far over 60 people have signed in 3 days.. When your done share it with ppl who care. Thanks.

Is it true that the Laker Games (particularly home games) will not be available anymore ?   If not, I will most likely be going to another provider.  That is too bad ......

^^^ Not just home games my friend, but away games as well. 1/3 of laker games are on national tv(abc and espn) so you will be able to see those.

that leaves 54 games that you will not be able to see.

still pretty much nothing from verizon still. T-minus 2 weeks

Ok Verizon it's the end of August the schedules have been released and us Laker fans are getting really itchy if you don't hurry up and let us know what number to dial in on!

I like your services a lot but if you don't come through on this Lakers channel, I'm done! I'm outta here! Without any hesitation! I gotta have my Lakers!

So please come through and make your announcement soon, very soon! Pre-season starts Sunday, October 7th! You have a little over a monthโ€ฆ the clock is tickingโ€ฆ

They won't say anything until the channel is launched, but like the other post above, I just couldn't imagine Verizon not carrying these channels. There should even be plenty of QAM space locally for them to add them since the LA region currently only has two regional sports networks. As we've seen in New York, Verizon wants to carry regional sports and they value the programming as a selling point.

Lakers and PAC 12 football and basketball are both on TWC. If Fios doesn't pick up both I'll be changing. Deadline Sept 22nd. First USC game scheduled fornewnetwork and plenty of time before Lakers start.

Go to www.iwantmylakers.com.  You can see if your TV provider will carry the new channel. As of 9/5/12, the only service it says is airing  Time Warner sports net is Time Warner. hmmm... interesting.

This new venture will cost millions of dollars. They need all cable services included.  I am hoping Verizon comes thru. However, I am doing my research if I need to change come October 1st.

I just went to the above link demanding that Verizon carry TWC Sports Net.

I have a feeling that deals are being discussed but TWC is holding out until Verizon gets nervous that their customers might bail and will potentially pay more in fees to acquire the channel.

It sucks for us the fans because we're powerless to do anything about it but sit and hope that they work something out. But as a die hard laker fan it really doesn't make the wait any easier when your team is being held hostage for ransom $$$ on the eve of quite possibly the biggest season we've had in quite a while.

Thanks TWC and Verizon ๐Ÿ˜•

ps. it does feel good to commisserate with other laker fans though...
