Take One America News off Fios

I believe in free speech and diverse views,  however tonight I have seen more than several pseudo news stories that are nothing more than conspiracy theories broadcast under an official looking banner. One America News has broadcasted a literal call to arms, telling people to go buy guns because "socialists and leftists " were coming for your rights. Then less than 30 minutes later they broadcast cultist conspiracies and encouraged outright violence.  I realize this is a reaction to the announcement of the new president elect, however it is completely irresponsible and  dangerous in these political times to broadcast these messages so freely and without fact or basis.  Outlets like One America News,  Patriot radio and others need to be pushed back to the fringes. They do the work of foreign detractors. It is not free speech just incendiary speech.

A patriot is not a man with a gun, but instead people who defend, celebrate and promote the best of our citizens to the rest of the world. All of our citizens!

It is completely irresponsible to continue to have internet style hate speech broadcast a medium as powerful as television.  Division, hate and violence are not patriotic values and should not be broadcast freely. That is not free speech.

Please move to take down this network.

It is not the first time they have promoted outrageous stories but it needs to be the last.

This is a free country and Americans have the right to choose which news stations they can watch. CNN and MSNBC are no less propaganda channels than the ones you accuse, yet as a libertarian with conservative leanings you don’t see me petitioning to ban them from view. If you don’t like it, then simply switch the channel

You dont get to decide what the rest of us want to see. Your decision lies in NOT watching the channels not in preventing others.

Actually that is exactly what they want to decide.

Simple you can choose to NOT watch them.

True, you can choose not to watch One America News Network but you can’t choose to not pay for it. My understanding is that Verizon pays OANN about $0.15 per month per subscriber. Verizon is passing that cost on to every subscriber plus overhead and profit. We are all suckers I guess.

It takes guts to resist bullies.  It's hard for corporations to have guts unless in response to economic pressure. Fios 200/200 at $40 looks real good to me but I can resist most media addictions. I am glad not to pay for OANN, and I will not ask anyone else to pay for what I subscribe to.

Its a free country, but supporters of OANN, and ESPN should just pay the owners of those services directly, like those who need Netflix, not ask me to pay for it.

Very concerning to see people and our Government calling for the removal of news networks (OAN,NEWSMAX AND FOX) because of a difference of opinion. This cancel culture mentality needs to stop right now, when one group believes their opinion is the only opinion then that becomes a problem. We ALL have the RIGHT to an opinion in this country! I hope VERIZON believes in the FREEDOMS we have in the USA and will not cave into this type of thinking

Agreed. I don't want to pay for the OAN/Newmax conspiracies and propaganda.  Fine if you keep them in the lineup for the cultists who enjoy watching them, but I shouldn't have to subsidize it.

Verizon FIOS should not make us pay for One America News Network. My understanding is that Verizon pays OANN about $0.15 per month per subscriber. I’ve tuned in to the channel a few times and every time they have been broadcasting falsehoods and conspiracy theories as “news” not opinions. Even YouTube cut them off for a period. I am not a supporter of broad censorship. However, reasonable, intelligent and responsible people should not have to pay for misinformation. FIOS can carry OANN as a selective premium channel for those few.

There are people that say the same about Main Stream Media as well.

The biggest way to show your disapproval is to not watch their content.

And if you know their advertisers, don't support them either.

This is a reasonable solution. I don’t want my subscriber fees to underwrite what I consider fake news that peddles conspiracy theories and worse. If Verizon insists on offering these channels they should take them off their cable packages that we all pay for and offer them as an option.

Not every channel gets subscriber fees.

Some will offer their content for free just to allow people to see them.

And as others have stated, there are plenty of people that want "liberal" news content removed.

If you don't watch the channels you don't like, they don't get the ratings.

Ratings drive advertisers.

Advertisers are where the money is.

“”“I believe in free speech and diverse views,  however.””””

You need not say more! Hahahahahaha

Lets get real, all Cable News is straight garbage. No one can honestly say, unless you are a masochist, that you enjoy watching MSNBC, Fox, CNN, etc. Talking head actors paid big bucks to scream things  that they don’t even believe themselves. It’s all garbage, all lies both sides. People that watch those channels are sad humans wasting their life.

OAN needs to go or at least it should not be bunched in with News channels because it’s not news at all .. it’s all conspiracy theory and it needs to lose any association with the word news.
Actually, Fox News is pretty much the same nonsense with a large audience so they need to go too, but that’s more complicated problem.

“Just change the channel” isn’t the answer to the big problem of wanting to drop fox news, oan, newsmax tv, & fox business! Our funds are going to these undesirable channels that give absolutely NOTHING to viewers, like myself, that do not subscribe to LIES & the REAL fake news being spread throughout those channels listed above on a daily basis!

I want more than some generic answer  of “just change the channel”! As a long time customer of Verizon, I believe it’s time for Verizon to respond to this growing topic, that will not go away!!! Please respond, Verizon! You owe your customers that much, at least!

As much as people might agree with you, that becomes a slippery slope of censorship that is basically unconstitutional at worst, and unprofitable at best. There are many channels people don't want, but have to take in their packages, one of the reasons so many turned to streaming instead of cable TV. Fios has a mix-and match option but it doesn't get to the kind of granularity you are looking for, so as the man said, just DON'T watch what you don't like. They will get the message at some point when the ratings drop, and profitability with them.

It is possible that OAN pays Verizon to carry their channel.

What would you say if someone that likes OAN says Verizon should drop news you may like?

Business drives what channels we have available.

If there aren't enough viewers to justify the price, channels go away.

Verizon needs to follow the lead of DirectTV and delist OAN, Newsmax and RT  These platforms are propagandist bullhorns spewing falsehoods and false equivalency, and spreading deadly disinformation about vaccines which is leading directly to increased social cost of the pandemic, and needless deaths.

Why is this marked solved when the "solution" is from a 1 post user who joined just six months ago and does nothing but insult the other posters?

It's absurd that Newsmax and OANN are still on FIOS - especially while they're contributing and providing aid and comfort to Russia as they commit genocide on the Ukrainian people.

Highly considering cancelling my service because of this.

I agree and I disagree at the same time.

Agreement: They should be suspended due to what Russia is doing to the the Ukrainian people.

Disagreement: Freedom of speach. Only after the suspension ends - If you do not like what they say, do not watch it.
