VERIZON REMOVES CBS, FOX (WBOC) FROM DELMARVA TV LINEUP

WITHOUT NOTICE, VERIZON HAS REMOVED CBS, FOX AND ANTENNA TV FROM DELMARVA LINEUP.  NO FOOTBALL GAMES, NO SUBSTITUE MARKET OFFERED TO PAYING CUSTOMERS FOR THIS BASIC CABLE SERVICE.  NEED VERIZON TO WORK THIS OUT WITH WBOC AS WBOC HAS BEEN ABLE TO NEGOTIATE WITH ALL OTHER MEDIA PROVIDERS TO SERVICE THIS MARKET.  ANGRY CUSTOMERS HERE TODAY, THAT WILL BE FORMER CUSTOMERS IF NOT CORRECTED QUICKLY.  CAN'T EVEN GET A PERSON TO DISCUSS WITH AT VERIZON.  EITHER PROVIDE CBS, FOX TO DELMARVA CUSTOMERS THRU WBOC, OR GIVE US PHILADELPHIA MARKET FEED, AS WE ARE PAYING FOR THESE STATIONS.

move to DISH or another supplier..  Verizon is only out to make $$$ for themself. not to support the user.

Dear CBS,

Not only did you cancel my favorite show, "Person of Interest," you have now dropped our local CBS affiliate from the cable lineup stating that they are asking for a %175 increase.  WBOC disputes that fact. I hope that you can resume negotiations in good faith.

I don't think Verizon canceled your show. I liked that show too but CBS did that.

Verizon has removed two major channels from our subscription...unfortunately we live in Southern Delaware so we do not live near a large city so we have other options.  This is ridiculous.  A Verizon rep said if we have these two channels it will raise our rate 150 percent.   I find that statement hard to believe.

It is now October 5th and after five days still no CBS or Fox. And no updates to us paying customers as to the status. Great service - not!!!

We just got an antenna, put it in our attic, and we now have local channels including WBOC and Fox.  We can combine that with Sling TV and be done with Verizon.  Losing customers is the only thing that will make them reconsider.  I never would've considered this if Verizon hadn't dropped WBOC.  Thanks, Verizon!

The only thing Verizon did was refuse to pay extortion to WBOC.  WBOC is the one who is not providing Verizon content.   WBOC has all of the power in this situation, they are a monopoly.  And Verizon cannot just rebroadcast the programming from another affilate.  Well they can, but WBOC has to give them permission, which I don't think will happen.

The FCC granted WBOC this power, along with every other local broadcast station.

It's been 11 days now without Fox or CBS. Has anyone received some sort of reduced price or compensation from Verizon. If so, how did you do it?

No but what you WILL get is a HIGHER bill because they (FOX and CBS) want YOU to pay higher fees!! I hope you're screaming as loudly to them, because they want you to pay more!!!! That is what the dispute is all about. Hope you ALL understand that, HIGHER subscriber rates!!!

Fios has dropped both our CBS and FOX channels effective 10/1/17 due to a contract renewal dispute with a small local media company. Fios insists it's Draper media requesting a huge increase which is totally false as I know people at Draper and FIOS(Verizon Big Corporate America) is just beating up the small guy. I have spoken with people at Verizon and they offer me a $5 credit on this month's bill(small compensation for not being able to watch local programming and weather and still paying $200 monthly). Something needs to change to stop these big companies from raping small local businesses at the expense of the customers who keep them extremely profitable.

Can you say how much draper has requested the fee be increased?

Verizon, like other providers, are always working to keep costs down.

How would it look if they gave in to a little guy and then had to negotiate with a larger company.

Each is out to make money.

โ€œOur goal is always to give our customers the best TV experience while keeping prices as low as possible,โ€ Verizon spokesman Chris McCann stated โ€œDespite our best efforts to accomplish that with Draper, they have removed their channels from Fios TV. We remain hopeful theyโ€™ll reconsider their initial proposed rate increase of over 175 percent, which is not a good value for our customers. โ€œWeโ€™ve been working hard to reach an agreement for continued carriage with Verizon since March 1 of this year, and frankly were taken by complete surprise over the weekend when Verizon chose to drop our stations rather than continue negotiations,โ€Craig Jahelka, president of Draper Media wrote in a message.

Didn't someone in this thread write that they did NOT want to increase rates!!?!?!?!?! That 175% will be passed on to you.

175% rate increase is NOT exactly nothing.

Please resolve dispute with WBOC and return access.  If not please provide alternatives to obtain access to CBS and FOX networks.

Since at least 50% of the tv I watch is CBS and FOX, I will expect a 50% reduction in the tv portion of my bill.

Is anyone else disgusted that Verizon has removed CBS fron the TV lineup in Southern Delaware?  Anything that customers can do other that change providers?

Verizon Fios Management & Customer Relations:

As Newly Relocated Residents of Delaware from South Florida, We were Very Excited to Have Verizon Fios For Our Wireless, Internet, TV, and Local Phone Service. We were Long Time Southern Bell-Bellsouth-Cingular-AT&T-DirecTV Loyal Customers for Over 20 Years. We had a Internet Service for Business Use With Comcast-Xfinity for a Short While, but The Internet Was Always Dropping Speed, Losing Connections, or Service Outages. We Had and Have Verizon Wireless for Our Cellular Services.

We Could Have Transferred Our Verizon Wireless,, AT&T Internet, & DirecTV Accounts from South Florida to Delaware with No Issues. Instead, We had heard of the New High Speed Verizon Fios Wireless & Internet Availablity in Delaware, and We Wanted To Give It A try For Our New Home in Delaware.

Living In Delaware, We have Only 3 TV Stations for Local News, Weather, Sports, Events, and Emergency Information. They Are WBOC TV 16 CBS, 21 FOX, and WMDT TV 10 ABC,  Both Based In Salisbury, MD with WBOC TV has a Broadcast Studio up here in Dover, DE. The Other Channels Included in Verizon's "Local Channel Line Up" are: 1 from Baltimore, MD WBAL 11; 4 from Philadelphia, PA Fox29, WPVI TV 6 ABC, NBC KYW TV 3 CBS, WPHL 10.

Now Verizon Fios Has Dropped WBOC TV Stations from Local Channels for Kent and Sussex County Over a Contract Rate Dispute Claiming WBOC Ownership Increased The Amount By 175%. In Actuality, I Think It Was Based On Verizons Viewers Numbers of Kent County which was Approximately 18,000, and Sussex County of 22,000. The Majority of Residential Customers in Both Counties are Comcast-Xfinity Subscribers for Internet, TV, and Phone, Followed By Verizon and Verizon FIOS, and Windstream.

We are IN A 2 Year Contract With Verizon Fios Triple Play, and 1 Year with Verizon Wireless for Cellular Service. The Number of Channels We Are Offered To Watch shows as 280+ with Local Channels Included. 40% of The Channels Are Shopping Channels, with the Remainder Divided Between Cable Network, Sports, Weather, and News. Our Weather Channel is AccuWeather Based Out of Philadelphia, PA, with No Local Weather Updates on Every 8 Minutes like The Weather Channel Offers on Other Cable or Satellite Providers. Viewers Must Open The AccuWeather or Weather Bug App To View Local Weather Info.

After Verizon Invested 53 Million Dollars Into Delaware to Install Fiber Optics for Their Verizon Fios & DSL, Upgraded Tower Installations for Better Wi-Fi, Upgraded Cable Transmission Lines for Broadband, You Would Think Verizon Would Want To Take Care of Its Delaware Customers !! If the Contract Issues Are With Maryland and Virginia Broadcasters, Then Adjust Those State's Customer Subscription Rates for Local Channels Access. Delaware Customers Deserve More Than 1 Local Channel Offer for Local News, Weather, Sports, & Events !! Delaware Customers Should Not Have To Purchase A Digital Antenna To Receive WBOC TV For Free !!

Work It Out With WBOC TV, Verizon, and Give Kent County, Delaware Customers Their 2 Local Stations Back !!

So today Verizon stock moved higher because of better earnings...guess their making all that money  from all the customers who live in Sussex County De who nolonger have access to CBS/FOX but continue to pay upwards of $200 a month for service we are not receiving...and the local broadcaster says Verizon has not been back to the bargaining table since 9/30....Corporate American GREED

Stocks went upon because wireless exceeded their goals.

FiOS actually showed a decrease in customers.
