Watching Land of the Dead tonight on AMC and a quick white banner jumps on and off the bottom of the screen. But I caught a few words of the text. Anyone else catch it say, "Verizon being dropped by AMC" or something similar....???
I don't think we were meant to see it but I did. It lasted only 2-3 secs and was yanked fast! Are we going to be held hostage now too? I dropped Optimum because of nonsense like this. Nothing worse than the providers and networks forcing the viewers to do their dirty work for them while screwing us out of what we pay for.

Hi All-
I'm THRILLED to announce that Verizon and AMC have reached a deal to continue carrying the network's programs! There will be no interruption to your channel offerings, so you don't have to worry about missing a minute of your favorite show.
Thanks for sticking with us!

LOL ... the question for me is how many of you "I AM DROPPING FIOS IMMEDIATELY!!" types are shilling for AMC. I venture a guess of 99%. Despite the "spinoff" of AMC etc, it is unfathomable for me to think Dolan and Cablevision aren't pulling the strings here and as such, are undercover doing to FIOS et al the samething they protest so loudly when a content provider tries sticking a gun in their ribs.

I really don't see this as time to lose our minds just yet. Rainbow is obviously asking for a lot more money, and is using this "pre-emptive strike" as a way to get viewers to threaten Verizon just like everyone here was done. On the other hand, Verizon has pretty much said they have no intention of dropping the Rainbow channels, and negotiations are ongoing.

I think the verizon customers will all agree with what I have to say.
No one cares about IFC, the sundance channel, or WE tv, but if you drop AMC I'm switching to a network that does have it, since Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead are my two favorite shows. DON'T DROP AMC OR YOU'LL REGRET IT VERIZON!!!

Please don't drop MAC. I have been streaming NetFlix more and more recently as well as reading books. I could be poached by another provider over something like this.
I sincerely hope this is just basely rumor.

I have been a Fios customer for many years. I have had many issues, and if you drop AMC I see no reason to continue service.

Riddle me this? If Verizon drops my very favorite channel - AMC - and I drop Verizon, am I responsible for the termination fee? I mean.. I signed a contract that I would get this channel! I would never have gotten FIOS if they didn't have this channel.. HOW can they break MY contract with them and yet I'm punsihed for breaking MY contract with them? I hear a class action lawsuit in the works...

I have been happy with Verizon Fios for a long time but losing AMC would have to be a deal breaker. If AMC goes, I go with it along with my phone, home monitorig and internet. I pay $157 a month for just the Fios portion of my Verizon bill monthly. I'm sure that will buy me AMC elsewhere.

Don't be foolish and let the best of television (Breaking Bad and all its Emmys) get away because you didn't put Verizon customers first. Better Call Saul!

It's like sports. You pay the high price for the star players. AMC is now a star player and warrent a primium price. It's not like Verizon isnt raping our wallets anyway to provide service that i constintly have to call the service line for the box screwing up.

The moment Verizon drops AMC, I will drop Verizon. The only show I look forward to every week is Waking Dead. I already have a hard time justifying the money I pay as it is. I hope they don't cancel, but the moment they do, they lose me as a customer

WE TV is one of the AMC channels. I frequently watch a lot of shows on WE TV. Please Verizon, do not drop WE TV/AMC!
I will be very disappointed and tempted to find another provider.

Every time I get off of the phone with Verizon FIOS customer service (now THAT is a misnomer, as their customer service is akin to a death march followed by a strip search), I consider that any other provider would value a customer who pays nearly $300 per month and has never had a late payment more than Verizon does.
Verizon, please understand that you may provide a pretty decent end result service, but your customers are only going to accept so much neglect and intolerance before we exit in droves.
AMC should stay. It is what I signed up for. It is in my contract. I will send my hard earned dollars elsewhere if this channel is dropped.

Wow, so many people quick to yell at Verizon.
Do some research. AMC has been pushing this on nearly every provider over the last year and a half. The Dish Network situation was just the most publicized because of the bad blood between the companies.
AMC has become greedy and wants more and more money from all providers. They're just going down the list. They finally won their fight against Dish so now they're turning the screw against Verizon.
As far as I'm concerned, I don't care. I watch Walking Dead, Mad Men, Hell on Wheels, and Breaking Bad on AMC. I would miss those shows (but I can easily find other ways to procure them). Let's not forget that Breaking Bad should have ended this year and will only have an abbrviated "season" next summer, Mad Men is no longer the ratings darling it used to be, and The Killing is axed. That leaves them with just Walking Dead and Hell on Wheels pretty soon.
Beyond those shows, AMC has very little that makes them worth the increased price they want cable providers to pay them. Don't blame Verizon (or Dish Network, or any other provider) - blame AMC for having an inflated self worth. Beyond 2 hours a week, tops, AMC is nothing but commercial laden reruns of heavily edited movies (while the rest of their networks completely languish in irrelevance) and yet they want us all to pay more.

Whatever the reason for all this, the message is clear: Verizon needs to do what it needs to do to continue offering the quality AMC programs that its customers have come to rely on, Verizon needs to know that AMC is value added part of their package and that without it, this customer and many others will be leaving for a provider who carries it.
Don't mess with AMC. They have earned the right to negotiate a better contract

Research before you react. The reason why AMC is broadcasting these messages is a little more complex than they make it seem in their banner ads. It's not a straight-forward "big bad Verizon is so mean." The flip side of the discussion is that "AMC is getting greedy."
Read more about what is behind these ads here:
AMC and Verizon FiOS are in negotiations to renew a programming deal originally signed in 2006 and set to expire at the end of the year. Back then, AMC was considered a marginal programmer as hits like Mad Men and Breaking Bad had yet to debut. Now, flush with the success of its original programming, the company is hoping to cash in with contract renewals.
