I am new to FIOS from Dish Network. With Dish Network, the multi-room DVR allowed all of the DVR functionality from any room in the house. I want this functionality with my FIOS and was assured (by Joy Goodwin in Virginia) that I could have it.
The multi-room DVR is located in the Living Room. We had a STB in the master bedroom, where I do most of my TV watching. Works well until I needed to pause, and then I can't do that. Nor can I set up recording.
Tech support (to be specific Dennis in Dallas on 2/27) said I needed to upgrade to the DVR in the master bedroom. I specifically asked whether these two DVR's would work together. The answer was yes. I asked again - so even with the new DVR, if I record something in the living room I can still watch it in the bedroom. The answer was yes, just not vice versa. There was a decision to make.... I called back and spoke with Steve in Dallas. He confirmed what Dennis told me, and based on that, I upgraded to a DVR in the bedroom.
Just got the new DVR installed and activated. Now, I can't share programming from Living Room to Master Bedroom. How does one get that functionality turned on?
And if this new configuration won't work, what equipment do I need and how do I set it up?
Thanks much!

You were misinformed by two people who shouldn't be working there or who were trying to make a sale.

I had the same exact problem. Had a standard set top box in the bedroom with a multi-room dvr in the living room for a year. Decided I wanted to record in the bedroom too, so when I called and spoke to the SALES rep, I asked if I'd still be able to watch in the BR what I record in the Living Room. He assured me I would be able to, but that I wouldn't be able to watch what I record in the Bedroom in the Living Room. So I swapped out my bedroom standard box for a DVR....and I couldn't watch in the bedroom still what I recorded in the living room. Decided it wasn't worth it then and sent it back and am back to using a standard set top box in the bedroom. Annoyed me very much, and was finally told it wouldn't work by tech support. Waste of time.

I am having problems with this as well. I switched from Time Warner to Verizon. I have a standard TV in the living room with the HD in the bedroom. I got the Multi-room DVR which is a joke. Only the bedroom is a DVR. I don't have any DVR functions in the living room unless I am watching a recording. That's not a DVR. Anyway, I called and was told I need to have a different DVR box in the living room. They sent one--the wrong one. So they sent another one which didn't work even after being on the phone with them for almost 2 hours. So I have now received my FOURTH box. Guess what--it's not working. I have no picture. Just fuzz. I went through all the technical help on-line which then said I had to call Verizon (again). After going through multiple steps for 45 minutes, they said "I"m sorry, we have encountered a fatal error, please call again later.". I am just stunned at this point. I am paying for a service I can't get and for the worst customer service EVER. And they lock you into a two year plan!!! This is ludicrous!

Sounds like you are trying to do DVR to DVR and at this time that is not supported, it's a future enhancement, but noone from verizon has assigned an ETA to that, or hinted whether this would be done in the next upgrade, or the one after that.
at this time you can't pause ff rw live tv without a DVR, but as far as multi-room where you can share the DVR recordings between rooms, the limitation is that you can not do it DVR to DVR. you can only have one "hub" dvr and it can talk to non dvr's only at this time.

Currently the way the MRDVR works is this.
DVR records. Non DVR boxes can access recorded programs only. No other DVR functions in non dvr rooms
Communication from DVR is only with other non-DVR's. DVR to DVR communication is not currently available. (may become a feature in the future, you never know, but not now)
So in a nutshell, its playback of recorded shows from dvr to non dvr only, no other DVR style controls are available on the non DVR's

That's not true! You can pause, ff, rewind any DVR'd program on a non DVR box as long as it's set up with the MRDVR. I do it all the time! The MRDVR is in the living room and I watch the programs both in my office and in my bedroom.

I personally was talking about Live TV when saying you can not pause rw ff etc. you can definetly do that from recorded content.

You cannot set up recordings on the non DVR box and you can't delete. Be sure if you are watching a program, to go to info screen and choose stop playing. Otherwise you won't be able to delete while using the MRDVR.
