My friends who still have Comcast get local weather with The Weather Channel..........toms River.
Ever since switching To Verizon, we get Newark's weather.
Who cares about Newark, and how do I get Toms River weather again?
If my Comcast friends did not still get Toms River, I'd say it was a problem with the Weather Channel, but they do still get Toms River forcasts.
Can someon explain?

Local weather is not available. You are going to get the weather from where ever your Video Hub office is...and yours is the Freehold VHO which delivers the Newark weather only. I hear the same thing from customers in Delaware getting Philly weather.
Nothing that we can do about this right now. =/

Hi - I live on Long Island and came over from Cablevision 2 months ago and have the same issue - we receive the weather info for NYC and use to receive info for Islip on the SD channel. On the HD Weather Channel, FIOS has the national detail which again is very different from Cablevision which had info for the NYC metro area.
I have heard from a friend that the HD local weather detail is in the works for sometime in 2009.
This is an issue for us on LI as the weather for LI is substantially different this time of year with seabreezes lowering our temps up to 20 degrees due to the ocean at its coldest.

Robert, thanks for the reply. We are an hour south of Newark, on the shore as well, so our weather is very different. I hope your friend is right.
Charles H. employee............tell whomever you should tell that as soon as my year is up, I am switching back to
Comcast. Nothing you can do about it now? Robert here has more information that you have, lol
Yesterday I was put on hold for over an hour waiting for tech support in regard to another problem, and was disconnected before I got to speak to anyone. I called again, was transferred another 5 times and was put on hold for 35 minutes until I hung up. I don't have time to waste hanging on waiting to be transferred to every single tech department you have and then hanging on for hours for support that I pay for.
You know, maybe it's worth the cancellation fee to get out of this now.

try using the widgets for your local weather, I believe they are zip code specific.
You can adjust the zip code under menu, then settings.

Hi, thanks for the reply,.
I've used the widget, it's pretty useless for my purposes. It tells you the low/ high.........and that's it.
I need other info, but thanks for the suggestion.

Widgets (ZIP 10309) for Staten island work ok, I get Staten Island weather and traffic on widgets , same as Weather Channel on TWC in SI. Wetaher Channel on FIOS is much different then TWC , as others stated here. so widgets do ok.
Maybe when FIOS 1 comes , it will have Local on the 1's like NY 1 and News 12. Weather Channel HD on both TWC and FIOS is not Local, but National in Staten Island, I don'tknow about Cablevision, he stated that Cablevision was local for Weather Channel HD
Also update on NYC PA Channels,. Staten Island on by the end of June according to NYC Franchise manager , right now Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, NYC and Bronx are all on FIOS, with Staten Island only missing.
If anyone provides an updates from the FCC in regards to MSG HD and MSG + HD . , please post here
Thanks
Billy

Mike T , if your post was directed to me, no I can't use channle 119. It gives me Newark's weather, an hour north of my town. I am by the shore, our weather can't be generalized with the rest of NJ. Thanks for your post.

I'm considering changing from cable to FIOS and live in Freehold NJ. Does the weather channel show local radar and local weather to my area?

FSCA...........No, you will not get Freehold weather according to the Verizon employee who posted on this thread.
I live in toms river, and my hub is Freehold, and we get Newark's weather.
