Having had quite a few DVR's in the last few years (Dish Network, Cablevision) There are many functions that my Verizon DVR lacks and I hope someone from Verizon sees this and helps improve our DVR experience.
There is no function to "remind us of a program" you might want to see from the guide but don't want to record (I've seen this on every other DVR I've ever had).
The recording options are extremely limited. While the option to record "first runs" of programs is available it is buried deep in the record series with options menu. Other DVR's have options for "on this channel","any channel", "during this time slot","any time slot". All of these should become dropdowns from the "record series" menu and the "record series with options" would be better off eliminated.
The PIP button does nothing and this is a shame. I imagine something coming, but when?
There is no caller ID on your television set, this is something I became VERY used to as it was available on every other DVR I have ever had. It's the phone company for crying out loud, how could they miss that one?
The storage space is really quite limited, I would like to be able to connect an external hard drive so I can increase what I can record(aka Dish Network)
I could not use the HDMI plug and had to use the component connections, a minor annoyance with my gaming consoles.
The only place that Verizon's DVR is on par with the other DVR's I have had the pleasure of using is cost, they are woefully behind in technology.
Agree on most counts. The lack of caller ID - especially considering the "bundle" marketing angle - is astounding. The storage capacity on the DVR is merely embarrassing.
In the spirit of having something nice to say, when the audio isn't dropping out, we really enjoy the PQ we are getting.
