I can't program remote to control my Onkio TX-NR709 receiver.

I tried all the codes and I some codes that shut the reciever (but don;t turn it back on) and a number of codes that turn it on, but don't shut it. Most of the were able to control the volume. Does anyone have a any advice?

Thank you

Ed.

Thank you for your reply

1325 shuts my receiver but won't turn it on

1347 turns it on, but won't shut it.

I never seen anything like that.

Do you have any suggestions?

Have you tried "cycling" through all possible codes to find one that works?  The directions for doing this are online under the specific remote.   You won't know which "number" the code is, but this can sometimes work.    It takes a lot of patience because if you go too fast in cycling through you have to begin from the beginning.    Your only other option would be to buy a "Learning" universal remote and pray it can learn the codes from your Receiver Remote. Then you can program the new Universal remote with all the other devices.  It is almost not worth it!   I had an early LCD tv with a remote that could not be Learned, so you may be stuck unless you can afford to throw money at the problem until you find a solution.

thank you for advice.

I don't want to spend any additional money and I prefer to use verizon remote, because it is easy to use especially for my kids and my wife.

So for now I programmed the code that turns the reciver on and set the reciever for AUTO OFF when the cable box is off.

Hopefully verizon will upgrade their remote codes eventually.......... or its a wishful thinking.
