With the new software upgrade to STB. I now have a very annoying BRIGHT RED ad banner on the bottom of my guide. How do i remove it.
I have Interactive TV --> Disabled. I sure hope there is a setting to disable the the ad. I know what services I have and don't need Verizon advertising for the Internet speed upgrade which I already have!

I too looked everywhere in the menus to find a way to disable the large red FiOS banner after last nights upgrade. Pressing A only give me the option to upgrade and not dismiss the ad! W/ last nights "upgrade," there is way too much wasted space on both the top and bottom of the Guide, causing me to scroll more often than I'm used to!

Also note in addition to Interactive TV turned off I have removed all obvious ad garbage from my STB:
Settings-->Popup Alerts -->Never Show me again
Settings-->Recommendations --> Turn off
Settings-->Promotions-->Disable
FIOS TV Home Screen (disabled by clicking the "Turn Off This Screen" button)

Yes, I agree that I would like a way to get rid of the ad. But No it doesn't take up anymore space causing more scrolling. The just removed some not programming info that was at the bottom of the screen and pushed that info to other spots on the screen.

Verizon, how about an official acknowledgement of this annoyance you have created, specifically, the obnoxious banner ad at the bottom of your updated program guide?
It seems there is no way to remove the obnoxious banner ad at the bottom of your updated program guide.
We already pay a premium for your Fios service. We do not need you shoving ads in our face when we are trying to use your program guide. It is a major annoyance. I would like the option to NOT display the banner ad.

These are peer to peer forums. You're not going to get a response from Verizon on the matter.

Any updates on this issue? It seems there is no way to disable it and calling customer support is an complete waste of time. (Probably by design) I'm frustrated by the banner ad as well. It needs to go or I'll go to another provider. The software update is that big of a turn off for me.
Yes. IF they can they will find a way to squeez in more ads. They are sure that all of us are happy to have informitive ads in our guide.
Even if they have decided that it was a bad idea, don't expect them to acknowledge it in the peer to peer forums.

There is now an option to not show advertisements (Main Menu -> Settings -> Notifications
(for some reason it requires rebooting the set-top box)
The banner remains but there are no ads inserted, just a Verizon Logo.
Now, can we get the advertisements removed from the search and DVR screens, please?

thank you for this. It makes the guide much better. also discovered that under settings, my tv type and the options for upscaling/displaying Standard Definition TV had been changed. main menu,m settings, video settings, get you there.
It's worth going through all the options again - THANKS verizon.
CAN WE HAVE Picture IN Picture sometime??????

I just came upon this thread and I was able to get rid of that banner ad on the bottom of the guide following the suggestions here. It's an annoying distraction for sure. TV now-a-days is just too complicated. It seems like any electronic device, even a cell phone, is now like another computer.
I think it's annoying too having to bypass these "just for you" recommendations whenever I turn the TV on but I just got rid of that too.
