For the last year I have been using numbershare to connect a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 to a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and it never seems to be working exactly right. I have already spent hours with tech support, but all the issues just never seem to have worked themselves out.
Just want to confirm that my understanding of numbershare is correct, and if so, see if there is a way to address the issues that I am seeing.
Basic numbershare calling and texting to the watch is working. That is, I can call or text my host cellphone number (H) when the watch is not connected to the host cellphone via bluetooth and the watch is connected to the mobile network, and the watch will receive the call and the text message. Of course, as is documented, apparently for text messages to work correctly, my host cellphone needs to be connected to the mobile network even if its not connected to the watch.
However, other things do not seem to be working right. Here are the current issues based on my understanding of how numbershare is suppose to work.
- My watch phone number is not blocked.
If my watch is connected to the mobile network and a phone call or a text message is sent to the watch phone number (C) it will be received by the watch. My understanding is that those calls and text messages should be blocked. - A text message from the watch does not reflect the host cellphone number (H) as the sender when the watch is connected to mobile network
If I send a text message from my watch, and the watch is connected to the mobile network and not connected via bluetooth to the watch, when the recipient receives the text message, the sending phone number is the watch cellphone number (C) and not the host cellphone phone number (H).
Is my understanding of how the above 2 scenarios work correct? If so, any ideas on how to resolves these issues short of spending time with tech support?
As a way of taking "taking things into my own hands", I was thinking of trying to reprovision numbershare by removing numbershare for my watch through the My Verizon portal, that is putting it in stand-alone mode, and then setting numbershare up again. Thoughts on this approach?
Thanks.
