As of this month the bill went up without any notice with $10/month.
It looks that the cost of rental equipment the reason: form 3.99 to 5.99 for a simple adapter and from 9.99 to 11.99 for a HD set top box. And you have to find out on the next bill because there is no communication or explanation. When you call and ask you get a lame excuse that the cost of electronics have gone up.
That is resp. 50% and 20% rental increase. This is a pretty big increase that can hardly be justified. It is even an outrageous increase for equipment that has already been rented for 4 years.
Way to go, Verizon, good policy to get rid of customers!
Thanks very much, Ger M.

Lots of discussion on the increases since they were first mentioned back in March. I don't think anyone but Verizon thinks they are justified, but other companies have done similarly increased prices for their boxes over the years.
One company even increased the fee for owned equipment so it was the same as rented equipment.

I got a notice months ago about an increase via snail mail.
I'd rather pay $2 more then pay $10 more.

Does this mean having a contract with Verizon means nothing and they can breech it anytime they feel like it? I haven't read the contract completely and don't know for sure if there is a section pretaining to the charges but I am sorry I ever signed up with Verizon and will not renew.

Contract pricing is for content only.
Equipment charges can be changed at any time.
BTW, so can the channels you receive (both add and delete).

I agree with you. When I got my internet they told me if I kept it for 2 years I was guaranteed it would never go up for any reason.I'v had it for a lot more than 2 years and never had a rate increase, but now they raised it by $7.00 without even giving any kind of notice at all. And the service is terrible & they always blame it on the weather. This company is going downhill more & more. I wouldn't refer their service to anyone who wants a good internet provider when they break a guaranteed price with out any warning, especially for people on a fixed income.
