The installation fee is insane. I love verizon, but these fees are a pain. This is why people use Optimum, despite their subpar service, at least they don't get these insane huge fees.
How did you order your service? If you do it online, the installation fee should be waived. If you have an ONT at the premise, you can opt for self installation and the fee is too waived.
I had an ONT on site but they wouldn't let me do self install.
Instead they came out and took the battery that I purchased because the last time I was with FIOS the battery didn't last a year before going bad. The guy said they don't use that anymore. Then when I later inquired they told me I could have battery back up for my phone by having them put a battery in my ONT box, the battery he took out that was still good after 6 years!
Then he drilled a hole after I discussed several times that if he needed to drill a hole in the outside wall I would remove the vinyl siding so I could put a connection box inside. He refused to allow me to do that then when I wasn't in the room he drilled a hole through my baseboard and my vinyl siding outside and put a 1 inch BLOB of silicone to seal the hole around the cable!
They are going to have fun fixing that to my standard when I leave Verizon! I never gave them permission to do the hole!
