I too am having the same issue as others who are trying to redeem their free Amazon Echo. Customer Service Reps and Chat agents have no clue how to resolve this issue. Personally, I think it's pretty sad that a reputable company such as Verizon is having so much trouble with their own promo and offering their customers little to no help at all.
