We have had several power outages lately, with aerial cables coming down due to fallen trees, wind damage, etc. I understand that in our neighborhood the lines are owned by Verizon and by Cox, who, before they take action, need to know that customers want the underground cabling. Dominion Energy is apparently ready to initiate the work to bury the cables but needs Verizon and Cox buy in. At present, in our Annandale community, the underground cables begin a block from our court and I’d like to join others in pushing Verizon work with Dominion and Cox to extend the underground cabling as far as feasible so as to minimize outages and, by extension, emergency repairs.
