Differences in prices for ordering service online vs. over the phone?

I recently tried to upgrade my TV package and kept receiving an error code from the Verizon website.  I called in and was informed that the sales team could process my sale over the phone, but the cost would be $10-$15 more than online.  When I expressed a concern that the Verizon website was glitching, I was told matter of factly, that I could call tech support with that issue, sales support could not help me.  I proceeded to call tech support and was informed that they were closed.
