I ordered Verizon Fios service last week and expressly selected the check box to deny a credit check in exchange for providing a deposit. I also did not provide my SSN. I proceeded through the order and today received a notification from my credit monitoring service that a hard inquiry had been made on my Experian account by Verizon East. I subsequently called Verizon asking to have the fraudulent inquiry removed from my credit report. I was transferred to the department that handled credit inquiries I was hung up on.
How do I go about having this fraudulent credit inquiry removed from my records?
