i wasnt able to pay online for two months because of the "not supported method" problem. turns out it is google chrome, and you have to use explorer. but never the less, verizon agents were no help to me figuring it out. they never wrote in the notes from my call and i had to explain to 5 different people including supervisors just for them to tell me i have to call the pay by phone number and no they would not credit me back the 3 dollar fee. this company is a joke.

I, too, am not able to log onto the payment pg so I can pay my bill. What is the problem? I have IE9 but never had a problem before now. Is there something to do so we can all pay our bill online? Is Verizon aware of the problem & doing something about it? When will this problem be resolved?

Oddly enough, after trying several times then posting this I tried again through a different route & it worked. Don't know what the problem was but was able to now take care of business.

This is a problem introduced in Microsoft FIX KB2585542.  Its an important fix but does introduce changes in SSL/TLS flows.  Still awaiting a definitive statement if its something that Verizon needs to fix or a problem in the Microsoft fix.

For now you COULD use another browser such as Firefox (note the Chrome browser seemed to have this problem even before the Microsoft fix).  Alternatively you could decide to live with the exposure that the fix was designed to fix, and at least temporarily remove the fix.

I normally use Firefox too but instead of paying your bills through the bill pay website of each individual vendor like Verizon, you could set up bill payment with your bank's website.  I don't know if some banks charge a fee for that.  Mine doesn't but the advantage is that you can pay bills for all of your vendors from one site with one password instead of logging on to each site individually.  My bank also has an option that allows me to receive my Verizion e-bill on the bank's website as well.  I find that method to be a lot more straightforward and in the end, the only difference is that the money comes out of your checking account right away and then it gets posted to your Verizon account and your bank's bill pay also allows you the same flexibility of your scheduling your payments.  For the banik's on line bill pay system, you just type in the name and address of each vendor that you want listed and it allows you the flexibility of paying more than one bill at once.

I hate calling Verizon's customer service line for anything unless I have to.  It's such a pain every time.

It could be a problem with temp files and cookies or even a virus.  I both my avast.com and malwarebytes.com every month and for Internet Explorer, I make sure the LAN settings are checked off with "automatically detect settings".  It's the same thing with Firefox.

On Internet Explorer, I go to tools, internet options, and clear the browsing history as well as temp files and cookies.  I do very much the same thing with Firefox but I also do a file search from the "start" icon on the bottom left hand corner of my screen for temp files so I can clear out the temp files from Firefox.

All of those steps keep my PC clean of all the garbage that builds up so it can function properly.  It sounds like people may be having this problem accessing their bills on line because of that and not because of a Verizon issue.

Encountered same problem. My failure to  log on my Verizon account was caused by Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2585542) Download size: 1.8 MB.

After un-installing update (KB2585542) I was able to log into my Verizon account.

After un-installing (KB2585542, you must change your Windows updates settings  so that it does not install the updates automatically, otherwise (KB2585542) will be automatically installed again. In other words, your Windows  updates must be set so that you chose which updates to install.

At least as far as the Verizon sites, it should be safe, and a good idea, to reinstall KB2585542.
