PHONE SOLICITATIONS

We signed up for Verizon a month or so ago and I have been noticing a dramatic increase in computer generated phone calls selling services from natural gas companies to security services.  Has anyone else had this experience? Does Verizon sell their customer's phone numbers?

Lots of people have complained about the solicitations from Verizon.  Whenever I get a call from a number I do not recognize, I google the number and most of the time it is Verizon.   So, I never answer any calls from numbers I do not recognize!   If the calls persist, I report them to the FCC.  Works for me!!!!

If you want an easier solution that would eliminate the problem, register all of your phone numbers with donotcall.gov so you can be put on the "Do Not Call List".

Once you do that, you will not be bothered.  I speak from experience.

I should mention that the National Do Not Call List may not block every telemarketer across the country from bothering you but this is what I do if I still if I persistently get a call from one:  I think it's rude and very annoying getting a call repeatedly from some unknown phone number without a voice mail message.  Sometimes I call the number back from my caller ID to find out who it is and then sometimes I just pick up but either way, if it's a telemarketer trying to sell me something, I immediately tell that person to put me on their "do not call" list because I don't want to be bothered.  I actually had to do that with a performing arts center where I sometimes go to hear concerts and I threaatened to stop doing business with that company if it persisted.  They all know full well too that if they don't honor your request, they can be reported to the State Attorney General's Office.   And I know this is a loaded word now-a-days but it really is a form of harrassment when it's done repeatedly despite your request for them to stop.
